No it's not possible to do it with just a button or replace it to factory settings.
The T43 Comes with WinXP or OS/2 Warp or Windows 2000 Pro.
If you wanted to reset it you basically would have to format the harddrive.
You can get a older version of WinXP which is still supported by microsoft or either that you can format it and sell it without a operating system.
Or you can add/remove items you installed and remove personal info delete pretty items much within windows itself.

SOURCE: No Sound on my IBM t43 Thinkpad
all hardware requires a driver
driver is an information file that tells the operating system how device works
without the driver the device cant work
when you reformatted you must not have installed sound drivers
here is a link to Windows XP version of the sound drivers of your laptop
and you will have sound
if you have a different operating system than windows XP, tell me and i will give you link for that

Are you sure you have a wire card installed? If so, then try this:
Note: If the card has a exclamation mark over a yellow background, then this is an indication that the card is experiencing a problem. Go to Driver download step 5.
It is possible to disable the transmitter of the wireless card without Device Manager showing any problems.
Note: Follow the instructions provided to enable wireless card.
If you double-click the previously mentioned system tray icon, the configuration utility of the wireless card will appear. This utility will be able to show the status of the wireless card, showing what channel the card is using and what signal strength is being received. It may be difficult to maintain a connection if signal strength is low due to either interference or distance. For example, interference can be caused by 2.4GHz cordless phones, other Access Points in the area, and physical structures such as load bearing walls or metal partitions.
Note: The utility can be used to configure the wireless card settings, but if using Windows XP Zero Configuration or Access Connections, you will need to use those programs to actually configure the wireless card as they will overwrite the setting of the utility.
