I overheated my Makita 9557PB angle grinder. I replaced the brushes. Bearings seem ok: the motor assembly turns freely, smoothly, and quietly. The running motor is slow, with a loud "grinding" sound.

Measure the value difference in Ohm between the carbon brushes on the armature there are some collectors in the commutator give an other ohm value if compared to other collectors in the comutator of the armature . if measure turn the blad very slow so the collectros can be positioned to measure the ohm difference. range to measure 0-200ohm on ohmmeter.
If only one brush made trouble ( much more sparking ) then the electric field is not in ohm value balance, control always if there are slide contacts used they are solid. on the field. Measure the difference. between the 2 field coils of the electric field . if its also different replace allways the field and the armature if thats also have problems (BUT DON,T FORGET to order a new drive gear for the armature and new brushes. !!!

How do I measure ohms in distance

Ohms is a measure of resistance as in an electrical resistor. Wire also has very small resistance but a long length of wire can equal a fair bit of resistance.
Now, to your question, you can't measure ohms in feet - unless you know the resistance per foot of wire (as an example).

Probably cheaper to buy a new microwave as they maintenance charge can be costly once put on a bench.
I am not able to help with this item.

I need to know how many ohms this speaker should measure on my digital volt/ohm meter, i'm getting 2.1 and 2.4 ohms.

hi
You speaker is dual coil one. Each coil have an impedance of 4 ohms. When these coils are connected in parallel then the ohms will be 2 ohms and in serial it will be 8 ohms. slight variations will show in digital multimeter when you measure the ohms. use the lovest ohms range in you meter to measure the coil impedance.
ok

What does ohm or rms mean?

Ohm is the unit to measure resistance in a circuit, Speaker came in diferent ohms usually between 4 to 8 ohms.
RMS is the right way to rate an amplifier power or an speaker power capability.

Elec dryer, no heat case

check your center NEUTRAL connection to the element, sounds like your losing it somewhere, certain units rely on the neutral to operate the element on certain cycles to dry, the neutral carries the imbalance current load and the wire gets hot and will get brittle and break

Fan not turning

Check fan capacitor, disconnect capacitor and measure it with ohm meter, put value on ohm meter ohm x100 or more, measure capacitor
it must show some value but it will be very fast,if there is no value change a capacitor,a new must have same parameters(values) as old
e.g. 80 micro F,220(110,380)V.Note a wire which was on capacitor.
If not capacitor, check fan motor, also with ohm meter, measure all wire for each other, ohm meter must show some value,e.g. 25 ohm.

Small refrigerator compressor overload relay cuts out

I am told if you measure two terminals and note the two with the highest resistance. Then measure each of the two terminals with the highest resistance to the common terminal they the two additional readings should read the same as the two terminals with the highest resistance when adding them together. If after adding the two there is more than 1/2 ohm difference one of the windings is shorted.

Half way throu my dishwashers cycle it fuses & turns everything in house off

this happens due to the high electric current requirement of the dishwasher and it is not receiving that required current so it try to start but due to lack of required power it shuts off the current in whole house.
get the electric curren line checked out in your house.

and to check the current in your dishwasher check out this instructions
You will most commonly measure two electrical parameters when you're troubleshooting your appliance: resistance (measured on units called "ohms") and voltage. Typically, both of these measurements are made on a single meter called a multi-meter, which you can set to measure either ohms or voltage.
This shows how to measure resistance. Resistance ( or continuity ) is measured in units called "ohms." You'll commonly want to know the resistance of things like bake elements and solenoid coils. For example, a good bake element typically has a resistance of about 30 ohms. If your oven's not baking and you measure the resistance of the bake element and the meter doesn't move, then you know you have a bad element. A simple ohm measurement can save a lot of money and a possible headache :)

Amp meter: Here's a clamp-on amp meter (or amp meter) being used to measure current flow through a wire. This is a common test for determining whether or not a gas oven igniter is good or bad--only way to really know is by measuring its current draw and comparing to rated draw. You'll also want to measure current/amp draw in cases where you have an electric motor that runs for a few minutes then shuts off on it's built in safety to see if the problem is with the motor drawing excessive current.
Volt meter: This picture shows how to measure voltage. A voltage measurement at the outlet should the first thing you do whenever you have an appliance that is completely inoperative...a simple power test is required if your electric dryer is running with no heat to make sure you have both powers at the dryer

thanks.

Most better low frequency speakers (woofers) measure about 6 ohms because the addition of crossover will bring the impedance up to 8 ohms. Even without the crossover, 6 ohms will not harm the amp or speakers
