For starters a year and model number would be helpful. Do you have turn dials to contol temp of freezer and fridge or electonic pushbuttons? The fridges with manual rotating dials use a "dampner" between the freezer and fridge section. In short the freezer evap fan blows air in the freezer but also has a passage from the freezer to the fridge section which aloows a controled amount of air from the feezer section to cool the fridge section. IThis passage may be obstructed by ice build up or some other blockage. Units prior to 2002 are not controled by circuit boards and the ones after 2002 are. For more specific help give me the GE fridge model please.
is there alot of frost in the rear panel of the freezer if not the compressor is not start or getting hot because fan that cools it has failed is the part between the side/side door extremely hot if so check the cooling fan for the compressor
turn fridge around at bottom you will c a round black cooling pot the fridge overflow pipe leads to here so water can drip on it and evaporate with the heat from it take off pipe give it a blow to remove foreign objects it should sort problem
