Magnetic screwdriver with extended shaft.
If you have chewed the screws get a screw removal bit and use a torque driver.

CANT FIND LIGHT TO CHANGE IT

Changing bulbs on microwave ovens is usually from the outside of the cabinet. You will find a small door in the location of the light, with either one or two screws. They are the only two screws that aren't security screws!

Cant remove kenmore over the range from 1984

The unit has two long installation screws located behind the upper grill. To remove the grill there are 4 small #2 Phillips screws holding it on. After loosening the installation screws, the unit tilts down and you lift the back free from a hanging plate attached to the wall.

Replace bulb

You must remove the metal cabinet around the oven, there are machine screws on the back and on the sides, take them out and the cabinet slides off. Make sure you unplug it well before you start work to replace the bulb.

Everything works except the microwaves nothing heats It has worked well for quite a few years

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya
This is a fairly common problem on the older microwaves
There is a part inside of the microwave that is called the megetron this what heats up the food and they do go out after time so i would have to tell you to first if you can remove the power to the microwave then on the back of the unit remove all of the screws that are along the edges then remove the side screws then the cover should slide back about 1 to 2 inches then come off
Now since i do not know th exact make and model of the microwave i cant get you a exact picture but here is what one looks like tbirdfan1_11.gif
simply remove the 2 wires form it and remove the part and get a new part and reinstall then replace the cover and test ok?
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards Mike

Its a hoover oven i cant remove the glass cover to replace bulb how do you do this

The cover has to come off the microwave to access the bulb. There are several screws around the back and sides. Remove these and the cover should lift off, revealing the bulb. For your own safety, make sure that the microwave has been unplugged from the outlet for several hours before attempting this repair.

How do i remove the microwave from the fitted casing? i cant see any screws or places where the frame is clipped. its much cheaper to get it fixed if i take it to a shop!

The frame is fixed with four screws.
Remove the four little square plastics (black) on the upper and lower sides of the frame (front) and see the screws hidden behind.
Remove the four screws en see the lower part of the oven.
Unscrew the two screws on the floor, but not completely and pull the oven forward - it's heavy and a friend helping is better...
Unplug and good repair...

Won't heat any foods.

you have a problem with your magnetron tube, and when the magnetron tube goes bad, the diode almost always goes out with it. you should be able to order a replacement tube from your manufacturers website, if you cant let me know and ill try to help you more.

here are the steps to replace the magnetron tube, if you want to do it yourself that is. if you have a professional do it, it can be pretty costly.
  1. Unplug Microwave at least few hours before
  2. Remove Microwave from above oven range by somebody holding Microwave from ground unscrew the screws from cabinet
  3. Remove top cover of Microwave
  4. Make sure to keep screws correctly in a place you remember what goes where
  5. Make sure capacitor is discharged, GE manual inside Microwave says capacitor will discharge within 30 seconds once it is off. As a precaution check the voltage in capacitor to make sure there is no electricity
  6. Remove other panels around magnetron part
  7. You need to remove lot of connecting wires, should be careful to note down what goes where
  8. If possible take digital photos to refer back when you put everything back together
  9. You may need to remove transformer to easily remove and replace Magnetron. If you can't remove Magnetron easily then remove bottom panel of the Microwave and remove transformer
  10. Now it should be easy to remove magnetron
  11. Replace new magnetron and screw it. We had to put one outside part from old magnetron to new one because new one was missing that. Check to make sure both old and new one are exactly the same
  12. Make sure put all wires properly back
  13. Now put transformer back and screw it
  14. Put capacitor panel in place and screw it
  15. This might be a good time to test the Microwave to make sure it works fine now
  16. Now cover the top panels and start to screw everything
  17. Once everything assembled put the Microwave back above range put screws from top

Is there a power fuse on a MCD1611?

Yess there is a ceramic 20 amp 250 volt fuse inside the cabinet. Safety first!!! Unplug the microwave from the wall outlet.

If you remove the four T20 Torx screws that hold the case on(back of cabinet around the edges) and carefully slide the case back and up you can access the fuse. It will be on the circuit board near where the power cord enters. If you have a ohmeter you can check the fuse. The ceramic fuses are not clear so you cant tell a blown fuse by looking.

Turntable not turning

You have two options to fix the problem, it is most likely a small motor that is in the bottom of the microwave, it is something that should be replaced by a trained repair person, if you are going too do this yourself, you may need too purchase a special screw bit for security screws in the back of the microwave, unplug the microwave, if you remove the screws from the back of the microwave, the outter shell called the shroud, slides off going toward the back of the microwave, after you slide it off, look for a silver oval piece that is anywhere from 2.5" to 4.5" in height with wires going too the terminals, if you see one, carefuly take a rubber handled screw driver and touch the screw driver across the terminals and do this untill you cant hear a snapping sound anymore.........look at the bottom of the microwave and you will see the motor to replace...............the other option is that it may be a loose connection, either way you must defuse the copasitor first, aka the silver oval piece.....
