IT SOUNDS LIKE THE COLR WHEEL HAS FALLEN APART AND WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED. I RECOMMEND CALLING AN AUTHORIZED TECHNICIAN TO DO THE REPAIR. YOU CAN CALL 1-800-SAMSUNG TO FIND THE CLOSEST SERVICE CENTER

My Samsung's picture is starting to fade and all the colors are turning a reddish color. Does this mean I need to change the lamp? I just did that about 6mos ago. What now?

with TV on bring up the menu. If the menu screen is NOT affected, the DMD board should be fine. It menu is affected, DMD board is likely the reason.

Also check the color wheel, sometimes when they are going bad they will translate the wrong colors or even make a loud pop and shut TV down. If the bearing is going bad on color wheel, it can make a grinding/squealing kind of noises and sometimes even make the TV vibrate.

Im not a TV specialist. Just trying to help with what I have experienced with this set.

My tv, just shut off! the screen does not turn on, and makes a squealing noise! what is wrong?

That is the classic case of the color wheel going out on you. The color wheel has ball barrings that tend to break and cause friction within the wheel. It'll start squealing loudly when it becomes stuck. Before it broke, did you notice the color going out or a fuzzy picture with poor skin tones? That's the color wheel!

Marshall MG50 DFX makes a squealing noise on power up

Yep, chalk that one up to poor design...The amplifiers are going out of balance during power up and down. Two seconds is pretty long... Try turning down the gain during power on and see if that affects it.

The pop on turning off is normal... None of these have speaker disconnecting hardware that is necessary for very high power amps. The biggies have hardware that checks amplifier is balanced before connecting the speakers and a relay also cuts the speakers immediatley on power down. As power goes up and down the circuitry comes to equilibrium and until it does, strange things happen.

I would investigate the CONDITION of the filter caps for the main power because if they age to a higher internal resistance that COULD cause the high freq oscillation on power up... Two seconds is MUCH too long.

There should also be some non-electrolytic caps NEAR the power output transistors to handle high frequency supply power bypassing.

Check the power bypasses that service the preamp stages. Look for pregnant electrolytic caps that have failed.

Ultimately, you MAY need an oscilloscope to isolate the high freq problem.

There is grinding noise; bearing rubbing against something. Samsung model HLN617W

The light engine is bad if its grinding. Squealing or a loud Vibration buzzing sound would indicat the color wheel

HL-R5656W Unit made loud pop and pic went black, ordered bulb but there is a loud crackling with some flashing going on when I re-inserted old bulb, is this the ballast that needs replaced?

Wait until you get the new bulb to determine that. The old bulb is probably arching as it tries to start.90% of the time the new bulb will do the trick.

Broken edge of bulb- TV won't work

The color wheel was the cause of the loud whining noise. The only item in the set under pressure that could possibly pop is the lamp. The fact that you have the 3 lights on is the lamp failure indicator. The lamp driver or ballast can also fail and give the same light error but I have never had one to pop.I would replace the lamp for sure. Also the lamp as you know sits right in front of the color wheel so perhaps it popped and fragments of the lamp ended up on, near or around the color wheel
