How can I reignite the pilot?

The nozzle for the pilot light may just need cleaning - use your vacuum cleaner to suck any dirt out.

There usually is an igniter button to restart the pilot light. Press it in and wait a few seconds, then press it again. The pilot light should re-ignite

Rp2100 raypack pool heater pilot will not stay lit

Several issues can cause a pilot to go out. The flame must be stable and high enough to prevent a wind gust from blowing it out. There is an adjustment screw on the gas valve that can adjust it up or down. If there is dirt in the orifice it may be a weak flame. In addition, if the thermocouple is worn out it may not provide enough current to keep the pilot pulled in. In addition things can go wrong in the valve that prevents the pilot solenoid from holding in.

I would first look at the flame and see if it seems weak and easy to blow out. Turn it up a little and see if it is harder to blow out. If you are not successful and it still goes out then it is probably something in the thermocouple/pilot valve that is defective.

I hope this helps.

The pilot light takes a long time to light, once lit it barely has but a small blue flame, what is the problem?

Ensure that the unit receives the standard gas pressure as rated on its nameplate.
Pilot orifice may be partially plugged or has some dirt on it, You have to dismantle the whole pilot assembly to gain access in cleaning the pilot orifice. Be careful not to enlarge the orifice bore in cleaning for that will only result to poor pilot flame quality.
The thermopile must be free of soot or soot form of dirt in order to detect the right amount of heat from the pilot flame so that it could also, in turn generate the right amount of voltage needed by the gas valve for pilot and burner operation.

Regards.

When you light the pilot, then put on the burner, it will only burn for 20 - 30 seconds and the pilot light, burner and everything goes off. When you re-lite, the Pilot light will not stay on after you...

Either the thermocouple connection into the gas control valve is loose or the thermocouple needs replacing. Also check the burner and pilot assembly inside the screen area for dust, dirt and insect build up. A clogged pilot can mimic a faulty thermocouple.

Hope this helps you in troubleshooting and solving the problem.

The pilot light goes out. When I go to re-light the pilot and turn the temp for vacation to medium the flame goes out again.

The pilot light jet may have got a little bit of dirt or grit in it which is preventing it from keeping alight. Try probing the jet with a fine piece of wire to see it the blockage can be dislodged. You may have to unscrew the jet to clear it by blowing air through it. Make sure gas is turned off first before removing any parts.

The pilot light also has a thermocouple that allows gas to the pilot light while the flame is burning. If flame goes out it shuts gas off to the pilot jet. The thermocouple is bypassed by a switch during the initial ignition and once the thermocouple warms up after a minute or two of holding in the bypass switch, it should maintain the pilot. If, after cleaning, the pilot light keeps going out, it would seem that your thermocouple is faulty and needs to be replaced

Pilot LIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT OUT

The pilot light jet may have got a little bit of dirt or grit in it which is preventing it from keeping alight. If the pilot light has only a weak flame, the whoosh of the main burner igniting can quite often blow out the pilot.

If pilot flame goes out for any reason, it shuts the gas off to the pilot jet to prevent unburned gas collecting and causing a safety hazard. The thermocouple is bypassed by a switch during the initial ignition and once the thermocouple warms up after a minute or two of holding in the bypass switch, it should maintain the pilot. If, after cleaning, the pilot light keeps going out, it would seem that your thermocouple is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Pilot light flame is mostly yellow. LP gas

Hi,
Thr thing you need to do is take the pilot assembly all apart and blow the dust and dirt out of it.
After burning for many, many hours the air that is move up through the pilot assembly leaves dust and dirt which plugs off a bit of the air and makes the flame run rich. Meaning that it does not get enough air mixed in for complete combustion.
When you clean it you will see the dirt and dust com out of it.
Reassemble carefully just as you took it apart and it will be back to working great again!!

I hope that this will help you to solve your problem!

Thanks for using Fixya!!
