Pilot lights but goes out when knob is released

It can take near a minute 60 seconds to get the pilot light to heat the thermocouple to activate the pilot gas control valve.

You may need to be a little patient. Make sure that the thermocouple has not been disturbed from its home location. You should see the pilot flame just touching the sensor.

Still can't find where you light the pilot light for the hot water heater on a self igniting factory installed heater on a 1997 Pace Arrow.

Generally, if a RV water heater is self igniting, then it is not designed to be lit manually. If you remove the outside vent cover door, then the unit can be observed. The self igniter should be visible at a point of where the pilot light is located. The problem with trying to light the water heater manually is that the circuit that activates the igniter also turns on the gas at the same time. If the igniter is not getting power, then most likely the valve to turn on the gas is not getting power either. If the problem is that the igniter itself has failed, then it may be possible, but unlikely, that with someone inside activating the turn on switch and a flame being applied to the pilot light area, at the same time, the pilot may light.

How do i light the pilot light

Dryers do not have pilot light, you either have a spark or a hot surface igniter. Both are electrically activated.

Pilot goes out

The pilot may no be strong enough to keep the thermocouple active . check to see that the pilot is engulfing the thermocoupler completely.
You may have to adjust the pilot for a stronger flame or you may have to clean the pilot orifice if it is dirty. Hope this helps.

It wont heat

never heard of having a pilot light as well an ignitor, the two don't go together. If your have a pilot light that is on the unit is getting gas. If there is pilot light there is usually a knob to switch between pilot light, off, and active on. maybe set to pilot light only.

Pilot light stays lit but blower motor will not kick on

The blower won't turn on, until the burner is lit and builds up enough temperature to activate the blower.
If you haven't already, turn the control knob from Pilot to ON. that will activate the burner.

The pilot light on our tankless water heater will not stay on.

The pilot light has a thermocouple that allows gas to the pilot light while the flame is burning. If flame goes out it shuts gas off to the pilot jet. It seems that your thermocouple is faulty and needs to be replaced if pilot light keeps going out

Dryer runs fine but does not heat

Check that the pilot light is lit and flame kicks on when dryer is activated. If no flame, then check gas valve. If only pilot remains lit but does not increase when dryer is activated, then you could have a bad coupler or sensor or circuit problem which would have to be tested with a voltmeter and/or test light.
