Ford engine block codes

What does the code 87TM6015AA indicate when cast on the block of a ford 2.9L V6 engine? Does this identify the year the engine was manufactured? Does it identify the CID?

Need to know the year of the vehicle, VIN would help cross-check the data.

From what I can tell, it is a 1987 Cologne nameplate, with 60degree angle. The site I'm referencing covers the '87-'92 casting. There are, probably, subtle differences between passenger car and truck engines. Some manufactures will substitute a larger crank for strength, or cut notches in the top of the cylinder to lower compression.

SOURCE: ford engine block codes f4 e-6015-aa-10

F4TE - 6015 - AA - 10

Let's break it down for ya, the first letter is the decade, the next digit is the year in the decade, F = 1990 plus the 4 = 1994

The TE = Truck Engine

So, what you have is a 1994 Truck Engine.

The rest tells me that you have a 351 Roller Block Windsor, the largest of the small blocks in the ford truck line.

Where is the Engine number on a 1969 Mustang

Not every Ford engine has a VIN stamped Serial Number on the engine. Do check each end of the cylinder head for stamping. Also the area on the block near the distributor has sometimes been stamped. I have found it best to check for casting numbers to align with the Mfg. date and engine code of the VIN.

I do have a 1993 Camry 300sei (v6) Is the 1994 model the same?

This engine will probably have a cast iron block, painted black. Depending on which country you are in, some year from 1994 on Toyota changed the V6 to a design with an aluminium block, the 1MZ engine. So have a look to see what the engine block is made of.

LOCATION ON ENGINE NUMBER OF KIA SPORTAGE 2005 MODEL

Find the engine identification tag. Attached at the factory, this tag is normally found on the engine block around the coil bolts. The top line of the tag identifies engine size and model year.

Search the block for the engine block casting number. The numbers are raised, not stamped into the block and consist of seven numeric digits. The digits can be located on either side of the block. The seven-digit number may be followed with a dash and further numbers. These are change codes and are not normally necessary to identify the engine.

EX.:

Locate the casting date is located on the block. It is in standard date coding, 2.25.93, for example and may be located on either side of the block, but is commonly located on the driver's side of the block, above the freeze plugs. The example 2.25.93 decodes as February 25, 1993. The casting date may be near the casting clock, which designates the hour the block was cast. Magnum engines were manufactured from 1993 to 2002, so verifying the date code helps identify the engine.

What are the engine codes and what do they stand for? ie: Y= 400 C.I. engine,325 h.p.

What kind of Pontiac engine you have? Is it pre-80's? Pontiac engines have a 2 letter stamp on the front top passenger corner of the engine block. The year is usually next to the distributer hole, and the actual casting number is located on the top rear of block. Some sites offer casting number searches. A good one is wallaceracing.com. They deal with everything from block and cylinder head numbers. If the engine is 1970 or newer, engine size is casted behind the dipstick passenger side of block and also on the front driverside of block too. There are many different variations of codes to list. A example it the engine is made in 1967, casting number is 9786133, code on the right front of block says YE, then it's a 1967 400, that originally had a automatic transmission connected to it, had 10.5 to 1 compression, #066 camshaft, 143 or 061 cylinder heads, 4bbl carb, and 325 horsepower.

NUMBERS ON BLOCK

Hello there:

Casting dates are usually expressed this way, “C 18 4.” In this example, the “C” means the month of
March, “18” is the day of the month, and “4” is the last digit of the year. This last digit may mean ’64, ’
74, ’84 or ’94, so you must also check the other characteristics of the block to determine in which
decade and year it was made. Some parts have the decade and year cast on them; these identifiers
look like this: “C 18 84.” GM introduced new model years in September or October of each year, so
when you see a casting date of “L 16 7” for example, this indicates a casting date used in the 1968
model year because it translates into December 16, 1967. A 1968 model Camaro assembled on
January 6, 1968, might contain a number of parts that were cast in December, 1967. Casting dates
should precede hand-stamped engine assembly dates.
