I took mine outside and hosed it down real good and then let it air dry for a day or 2. worked great! it was filthy!!! and that dang screw made it impossible for me to fully take it apart to clean it, so I decided it was either the hose or throw it away. mine was incredibly dusty and i was able to use a hose with a power nose and spray it really good. we'll see how long it works :)

I called Lasko tech support and they said the screws are safety screws designed to not open. To clean, they suggest using a can of compressed air then using the brush attachment on your vacuum to remove what you've freed.
