This message sometimes happens when it\'s jammed or caught. I would open it up and really clean everything out to make sure the brushes are not jammed. Also pop out the ball white/black wheel at the front and remove all the hair around the axle for this.

This almost sounds like something caught in the wheels and gears. String and the like can get caught in there. The easiest thing is to find the end of the string and try to unwind it in the direction reverse to what it caught in. I tried taking the whole Roomba apart one time, it was tough, so I don\'t recommend it unless you are very mechanically minded. FYI to everyone with a Roomba, I knew someone who expected theirs to pick up random dry cat and dog poop around the house. No vacuum can do this.

SOURCE: irobot moving slowly

Try running th roomba with the dust bin removed to see if the main brush is turning, if not it could be an issue with the gears being stripped in the brush motor assembly or inside the brush compartment holder. If the gears are fine the brush motor itself may be blown. A new one is about $30.00.

SOURCE: Dont move forward.

Blow out the unit with compressed air, particularly around the wheels and under the bumper. Tap the bumper with your hand.

If your Roomba stops and beeps at you, count the beeps AFTER the initial "uh-oh" tone. Then call customer support (1-877-855-8593) for assistance.

Good luck.

Generic works fine, and that charger does too. If your charge light and dock light are on then you'll be okay.

Roomba 4210 won't start

  • Lift Roomba off the floor and place it in the center of the room and restart the clean cycle.
  • If Roomba did not resume cleaning, lift Roomba and turn it over.* Inspect the Side Wheels for dirt or obstructions.
  • Test the Side Wheels by pushing them in and out and making sure they rotate freely. Place Roomba in the center of the room and restart the clean cycle

My iRobot Roomba runs for about ten minutes, then shuts off. I can keep pushing the clean button and it will run for another ten minutes and stop again. Nothing seems to get clean.

Take the brush rolls out and you should see a copper disc. It is the dirt sensor. Clean it with Windex or some other cleaner. This works sometimes.

When Roomba says "Please Inspect and Clean Roomba's Cliff Sensors" it means that Roomba 500 series sees a constant cliff. This can happen if Roomba was started on an uneven surface or got stuckon an obstacle during the cleaning cycle. Extremely dark-colored floorsurfaces may also contribute to this error. If this error occurs on aneven, light-colored floor surface, Roomba’s Cliff Sensors could be dirty or obstructed. To troubleshoot this issue, please follow these steps:
    1. Check the Cliff Sensors for obstructions.
    2. Clean the Cliff Sensor windows using clean, dry cloth.
    3. Move Roomba and restart in a new location.

The location of the (4) optical sensors can be seen here:

Occasionally these sensors do go bad and that can be a hassle since iRobot doesn't like to sell replacements...they prefer you send the whole robot back to them. If you are handy and willing to replace yourself, you can purchase replacements from some reputable vendors like
