Why would the drain pump on an LG top load washer would run continuoulsy?
When the washer is plugged and press the On/off button, the washer starts immediately without any selections in the control pannel or water connection. Once connected to the water and I select the programs, the washer starts running but the drain pump runs continuoulsy. I disconnect the pump and the washer go to the washing cycle, I reconnect pump to drain the water, disconnect again the drain pump to rinse and finnaly reconnect to spin and drain. A technician came today and checked it, said both pump and pressure switch are fine and that the control pannel needs to be replace. Still, there was never an error code displayed?! Could that be really the problem? Where could we buy a replacement part?
Thanks for your help!!!

Re: Why would the drain pump on an LG top load washer...
Yes, that does sound like it is the control panel, as that would cause the machine to do weird random things as you are describing. The part should be available at searspartsdirect.com or my favorite, easyapplianceparts.com. Just type in the model number of your machine and diagrams, parts and prices will appear. Hi dear.OE code meaning on Lg washer's"machine unable to drain in 10minutes". You can make a little test. Please remove the filter & pour some water in side drum ,watch for water coming out of filter. If it's slow, tub to pump hose clogged.(there must be some sort of fluff or coin clogging hose)if it's not slow, waters comes out freely, run machine on drain cycle & check the pump motor is it running smoothly? If not change the pump.I hope that helps.Thanks.
an LD code indicates a long drain was detected by the control.check for a kink in the drain hose. the most common reason for this code is something caught in the pump. many times a piece of clothing(small sock, shoe lace or string from a sweatshirt etc..) gets stuck and restricts the water flow to the drain...the pump can be removed by tipping the washer forward approx 45 degrees(use something to prop the washer up so it doesnt fall all the way to the floor)then remove the back panel. the pump will be gray &have 2 hoses. calypsos used 2 styles of pump . one was integrated into the pump motor and the other was attached to the pump motor with 2 springclips.remove the clamps on the hoses and see if you can see whats caught inside..if the foreign object is wrapped up in the pump too tightly you will have to replace the pump..if you have to replace the pump and it comes as part of a new motor.,the front panel will have to come off to unplug the pump motor and plug in the new one. there is a space at the top of the front panel where it meets the lid, use a putty knife to release 2 clips so you can lift the lid up. you will see several screws along the top.remove them and the front panel will come off . you wil be able to see where the pumpmotor plugs in. . you will have to work in front and behind the washer. always unplug the washer before doing any work on your appliance. hope this helps get you back up and running...
EXPLANATION AND RECOMMENDED PROCEDURE F21 LONG DRAIN
If the drain time exceeds 8 minutes the water valves turn off. NOTES:After 4 minutes the “Sd” error will be displayed, then 4 minutes later the “F/21” error code will be displayed. Press PAUSE/CANCEL two times to clear the display.
Possible Causes/Procedure 1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. 2. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 3. Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure the pump is running. 4. Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects. 5. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 6. If the above does not correct the problem, go to step 7. 7. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 8. Replace the pump.
It sounds like you need to re programme the machine. With the machine plugged into the wall and turned on and the headset turned off this is what you do. Push and hold down the start button, while doing that you need to then push and hold down the power button. Hold them down for about 5 seconds, during which time you may a series of up to 3 beeps. Then release the buttons. Turn the machine off and then on again followed by the start button. Allow the machine to then run the complete cycle. This should correct your problem, if this doesn't then you may need to then look at replacing the computer panels.
You may have a broken pump impeller - you will have to order the whole pump (the filter on this machine allows BIG stuff through and it can ultimately damage the impeller)
Have you run this through diagnostics and determined if it is the drain or recirculating pump?
To run diagnostics:
Press and hold the "Spin Speed" and "Soil Level" buttons at the same time - then hit the power on the button
All lights should display - Press the Start Pause button throught the following cycles:
1 - Tumble clockwise
2 - Low speed spin
3 - High speed spin
4 - Prewash inlet (let it run for a few seconds to put some water in the tub)
5 - Wash Inlet
6 - Hot Water inlet
7 - Bleach inlet
8 - tumble counter clockwise
9 - Heater
10 - Circulation pump (see if your noise occurs here)
11- Drain pump (let this run until the tub is empty)
12 - Power off, finished
Once you figure out which pump, order the correct replacelement
DE stands for "drain error". The first thing the washer always does when started is run the drain pump for 2 minutes. If somthing is jammed in the drain pump (paperclip, bobbypin,) then the motor can't run and you get the error. Also if the drain hose is blocked or the boot from the bottom of the tub to the drain pump assembly you get the same thing. Check the filter basket (behind the door in the lower left of the front).
