I hope you did not put all your photos on that drive.
MAC wants a different format. If you want to use an external hard drive on two systems, like MAC and Windows, you best format the drive with EXFAT. That is compatible with both systems. You still will have problems saving big files like bigger than 4 GB, because EXFAT does not support these large files. Don't start formatting the drive, before you are 100% sure you have all the pictures save on another device.
You also should check if the drive is not password protected and if the files are boot encrypted.

look to the last line of my screenshot, last two words between the brackets.
Apple does not (yet?) support NTFS

Testimonial: "Thank you. Yes, I put a lot of my pictures on that stupid external hard drive because my computer had to be repaired a few times. Oh no, I am sooo upset to know I lost my pictures."

I'm not sure you lost anything. If you always had a MAC and the pictures came from the MAC, you could be right, but first don't tough the drive till you know for sure you did put them there with another computer. Because when your MAC can't read them! it will not say they are not there. If they were from a windows machine first, any windows machine can read them back. Just explain from what computer with what operating system your fotos came.

Ok. I've always had everything from this MAC. I kinda wish they were from another computer! The things I saved from a windows computer I can view with no problem on my MAC. I just can't seem to find the MAC pics that were saved from my MAC. It's now an OS X 10.9, I am not sure what it was at the time I backed everything up. When I hook the external drive to the MAC, I can't click on iphoto to locate anything. That's the trouble I'm having. I appreciate your trying to help me.

There are recover programms for files and pictures. Some firms of memory cards offering them for free. They just ask a part number or serial number of the card you own. These programms often also recover (if they are deleted, but nothing is written over them) photos from USB drives. But I'm afraid if your USB drive is formatted with NTFS you never did put them on the drive in the first place.

When you connect your iPhone to your computer you can access the photos that are on there on your desktop. If you have a Mac they will already be in iPhoto waiting to be imported. If not then you can just click on your iPhone in My Computer and you can access the pictures that way.

Hi Wilson,
You can block Internet access by specifying MAC addresses of PCs you want blocked. The MAC address is the physical address of the network card in the PC.
Please page 54 for instructions on setting up this policy.
To locate the mac address of a PC.
click Start, then Run, then type cmd in the text box.)
Type in ipconfig/all in the Command Prompt Windows. Review the output.

Is the camera detected and mounted when you connect it to the pc? It should appear as an external memory - the photo files directly accessible. If it doesn't then something is wrong with the cable. If it does then try to access the files with another file manager than Finder.
The easiest way to bypass this problem is to extract the memory card and put it in a card reader - now it will be just another memory stick, use it as one.

For my opinion I suggest using MAC address filter, every network adapter haves a unique MAC address which you can use to only permit those computers with the MAC addresses you want.
Do this method with every wireless computer you want to access your router.
  1. Go to Star -> Run, type cmd and click OK
  2. Type ipconfig/all, here you will see a list of your network adapters, look for your wireless adapter and take note on the physical address number (something like 00-4F-....)
  3. Now go to your wired computer (the one that is wired directly to your router) run Internet Explorer and type and enter. The router may ask you user name and password, if that's the case try the default password for your router (linksys wrt54g is username: admin, password: admin)
  4. Afer this you go to access restrictions and click Edit list of PC's.
  5. A window will pop up, you will see input boxes with labels like MAC 01, MAC 02, etc...
  6. Type the physical address you have got from the wireless computer in any input box labeled MAC 01, MAC02, etc...
  7. Click save settings and go back to Access Restrictions, make sure you have checked Allow.
  8. Now click on Enable and then save settings.
If you have more than one wireless computer hooked up with your router then do this process with each wireless computer you have (it is not necessary to do this with your wired computer).
Hope this works!
