Question about Canon CanoScan LiDE 80 Film Flatbed Scanner
Canon CanoScan Lide 80 flatbed scanner.
When trying to scan the scanner makes a grinding noise and the scanning arm won't move. An error message appears (code:201) saying to consult the manual which i've checked and can't find any reference to the error code. I've checked the scanners lock on the back of the machine and that appears to be broken as it is stuck in the unlocked position and can't be moved. As far as I can tell the problem appears to be mechanical, can any one help?.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Check the lock switch and make sure it is unlocked. I think the lock switch is on the bottom...or it may be under the lid near one of the hinges. Flip it back and forth and leave it in the unlocked position.
If this doesn't work, then it will most likely need service. Contact Canon Tech Support.

I had the same problem more than 1 year ago and then found the solution (at least in my case that is) somewhere on the internet. Since I have the same problem with a new computer I searched the internet once more, but did not find the solution. However, last time I was so clever to write down the solution on the disk of my old laptop. The laptop is gone, but not the disk, so I could access it by putting it in an USB enclosure and was able to find the solution once again. Here it is:
c:WINDOWS wain_32CNQLxx (xx is the number of your scanner) should be included in the PATH environmental variable.
Now I know where to look for I found the link where I found it first:
The entry was by pallosp.

I was surprised by the same problem this morning. First time I've had a problem with in years. Checked the lock... it was already unlocked. I solved the problem by unhooking the USB cable from the hub, restarting my Mac (seems to be the key), replugging the cable and restarting the scanner. Worked like a charm. Hope it works for you!

Select your operating system and download the driver "TWAIN Driver - LiDE 20 Scanner Driver Ver. 22.214.171.124a_xp" and then download the software "Canoscan toolbox" ...here is the link:
