SOURCE: heat pump auxiliary heat does not turn on

Turn up your outside thermostat in the outside unit.
You should have about 3 degrees difference in one stage to the next. So I would change the thermosat with one that has three stages of heat.

SOURCE: honeywell thermostat

I had the same problem and decided to take a chance and call honeywell customer support. I am shocked, they solved my problem! At least in my situation we found that the blue wire ran the compressor. Instead of hooking up to "blue" on the thermostat, we hooked it up to "white." It works wonderfully now.

I checked the model #'s and they should interchange just fine. Double check your wiring. On the thermostat Red to Rc (which should also be jumped to Rh), White to W, Green to G, and Yellow to Y. Move T-stat controls from current position to oposite end and back to what you want to run ie. A/C if thats what you want. Move fan control to on and back to auto. (I find this eliminates some close but not quite right settings). This should work. If not look in furnace to verify how it is wired. Any colors that do not match the above will be your corrective action to do at the thermostat. if necessary change t-stat wires at t-stat to match what is in the furnace.

Bought a honeywell thermostat and we are trying to wire it up

Wiring color to Thermostat Depending on what thermostat youhave and existing wires. Typically red and white are for heat and yellow andgreen are for cooling. On base of thermostat there should be initials stampedto identify wires by color. R. W. Y. G. Possible Rc. and Rh if so for most usesyou need to jumper these two together. You may have a blue wire instead ofyellow or green. If so just hook blue to y or g. Hope this helps you.

Red wire to R on thermostat red on furnace and red on heat pump Same with white except w1 on thermostat. Blue to common on thermostat common of furnace (probably brown but will be marked) and blue to common on heat pump. yellow to Y on thermostat and straight to heat pump. Orange to O on thermostat and straight to heat pump. If wired correctly with no shorts fuse problem should be solved. commonly people leave enough wire exposed inside the t-stat for wires to short together. This will blow the fuse. Hope this helps. I understand the frustration.

Replaced Bryant T-stat model TSTATBBNB001 with Honeywell t-stat

Your original wiring configuration seems to indicate that you have an air conditioner (not heat pump) and either a gas or electric furnace. If this is the case you may need a different thermostat for your application.

My heat wont turn off

if you have an emergency heat position we will assume you've got a heat pump. If you do not have a heat pump you have the wrong thermostat for your application. Need model of this thermostat, wire colors, termiation points (what terminal designator they are connected to), and if you have it where they were and the model of the last thermostat that worked correctly
