Thanks Grognard. I've been to the LG site but could not find a repair manual. Can you give me a link? Thanks, Mike

Sorry, Mike, I can't remember how I found that on LG but I did find another copy at another site: I hope this helps; if so, please remember to click the "Helpful" button!

Thanks Grognard this is great. I have a sensor on order and hope to install it tomorrow AND that it will fix the issue. Then I just have to get the icemaker working again.

I ordered the sensor, but it is not located in the door hinge area, as suggested. I'm still trying to figure out where it is located. I've gone through several diagrams but haven't been able to locate it as yet. Any suggestion would be helpful.

That 610D sensor doesn't appear on the case diagram on the Sears site, only on PartsDirect. It's shown in the general vicinity of the top left door hinge but it could easily be inside the top of the case between the refrigerator shell and the case itself. There is a 610A sensor cover that looks like it's inside the refrigerator box but I think that's the cover for the refrigerator sensor since the Sears diagram shows one of those (probably for the freezer sensor) in the freezer compartment as well. If all else fails, I'd go to the PWB and trace the wires from connector 5 to the RT (room) sensor.

    Oops, that's PartSelect not PartsDirect.

It's tough to tell but, looking at the repair manual and replacement parts sheet (both available on line at LG), it looksl ike the Room Temperature sensor is PartSelect Number PS3529165 at location 610D; that is, it looks like it's inside the plastic cover over the top left refrigerator door hinge.

I replaced my temp sensoe and it reads ccd

Hi Glenn, I'm glad to help! Here's how you check the Ambient Temp Sensor circuit itself to see if its working properly. Disconnect the Ambient Temp Sensor Connector. If the temp reading go to the default mode it will show 40 degrees. If it doesn't go to 40 Degrees then thyere something wrong with the system. Could be wiring or display itself. If it does go to 40 degrees then I'd try another sensor and see what happens. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Glenn.

Hi Joe, I'm glad to help! The ambient temp sensor connects to the "Front Control Module" and when working properly will send the signal from the sensor to the overhead as well as other places that need an ambient signal. NOTE: Heres a simple way to see if the system is working properly. Unhook the connector at the Ambient Temp Sensor and the system should go to the default setting and the overhead display should read 40 degrees. If it does then the system is OK, replace the temp sensor. If it doesn't read 40 then various test must be performed to see if its the front control module or the overhead control unit. Hope this helps and have an awesome day Joe.

Air conditioner will not come on. The tempeture gage is reading -40. The sensor is not reading properly.

Hi ruswashingto,

The air conditioner may not work properly if your ambient temp is reading -40. The a/c control unit monitors ambient temp so that it does not operate at too low outside temps. I would recommend fixing the ambient temp sensor and rechecking your a/c operation.

How to replace ambient air sensor on 2001 Dodge

most ambient air sensors for your inside temp display are in the grille area behind the grille the only other temp sensor for ambient air temp is in the intake duct for the engine.

Engine miss when ambient air temp increases not water/engine temp

there is an ambient temp. sensor in the intake air ducting, if its a small round two wire plug you can unplug it and the computer will think its -40C. You will set a code when you do this, but should go away after you plug it back in.
Depending on the engine you could have a cracked mainshaft in your distributor which is quite common, unfortunately most cracks are on the underside of the shaft which requires removing the distributor.
