Does your wii-mote have the light lit up under the #1 indicator on the bottom of the controller? It could be as simple as the remote running out of batteries...

Here's what to do. I've had this happen many times.
1. Open up the SD Card compartment on the Wii.
2. Open up the battery cover on the remotes.
3. Press the red Sync button on the Wii, and then on one of the remotes.
4. Repeat for whatever remotes need synced.
This will make every remote act like the P1 remote. For temporary syncing, just go into the Home Menu and click Wii Remote Settings. Click on another option(it'll say to press 1 and 2) and follow the instructions.
