SOURCE: Keyboard characters stop showing

This will happens due to 2 reasons 1. Your memory is low. 2. Your system is infected with malware/spyware.
Check your CPU utilization in task manager. Should not utilize 100%.
For this you need to download Antimalware like malwarebytes and clean the entire system.
Or Have to increase the RAM.
Hope this will be usefull
Thanks & Regards Nanda Kishore.

SOURCE: Keyboard and mouse not working

is your mouse and keyboard wireless?

If so your connection may not be set up right.

If your keyboard and mouse are wired with USB port plugs then you could have either a faulty cord or USB ports in your system. Try using the keyboards on another PC and see what happens. Also you cannot connect a keyboard and mouse after the system has booted into windows and expect it to work. Either way your system will think nothing is attached until you reboot. Try this out and see what happens.

My mouse broke my usb port in the front of my computer and when I removed it my computer wont recognize my mouse or keyboard anymore but it recognizes my speakers

I had to unplug everything from the motherboard and remove the usb port in the front that was causing the problem, then my operating system started again, I then had to reinsert my supplemental recovery disk and repair my system, then I had to restore to the previous day before the problem started.

I think you really need to boot from a boot disk (windows xp - vista - 7) for your operating system - and attempt a repair from there. Your computers have different motherboards and parts.. windows installed drivers for them are not close enough.

I have had success in xp by doing this: before removing drive from old computer - you go into device manager and remove everything - drives, video card, mother board last and leave keyboard and mouse .. so you can shut it down .. then install into new machine and it finds most everything and then you install your drivers there.

Good luck,
Bill

If it is a USB then it should work with any keyboard and mouse. When you say it shuts off after XP loading screen, does the machine power off? have you tried unplugging the mouse and keybaord and let Windows load?

Keyboard not recognized

I'm assuming it's a wireless keyboard?

Have you tried "ReSyncing" the keyboard?

1) On the base unit for the keyboard/mouse plugged into the computer press the button on it.
2) Press the button on the bottom of your keyboard.
3) Try to use the keyboard.

You might have to try it a couple of times. That'll fix the problem 99% of the time. The other 1% means your keyboard is dead.

Problem with KVM switch and Vista

Your problem has nothing to do with the Operating System (Vista), it has something to do with the brand of your computer. I have similar problem before, I have Vista (Dell), but the time I connected another Vista (Sony Vaio), everything worked correctly.

This is what you need to do:

1. You have to make sure that you are using a standard USB keyboard and mouse.

2. Connect first the keyboard and mouse directly to the Vista computer to see if the USB ports of your computer are working properly.

3. You may power cycle the KVM switch by disconnecting it from the computers (including the keyboard and mouse) and leave it disconnected for 2 minutes.

4. Reconnect everything after two minutes and then reboot the computers.

5. Try using different USB keyboard if problem exist after power cycling the KVM switch.

Mouse and keyboard not recognized on second computer

Solution for the mouse. I have 8 KVM's. Most of my computers work with the KVMs. On 1 inland KVM the logitect and Microsoft optical mice do not work on one computer (but work with the other computers). They both are USB. I hook them up with a USB to PS2 adapter. If I use a ps2 ball mouse connected to the KVM the mouse works. All the Mice work if I directly connect them. Since I do not want a ball mouse I got a Frisby optical PS2 mouse. It works with all the computers on the KVM's.

I do not have a solution for the Keyboard yet. 1 computer (ASUS MB) on my trendnet or belkin 4 postion KVM does not recognize the keyboard.

Make sure its driver on the mouse is working fine and that windows finds it right click on MY Computer then go to hardware, device manager and right click on Mouse and see if it is installed correctly try reinstalling driver for that mouse.
