How do you take out the battery in an S1240 flip camera

If the camera is working okay the batteries are likely okay also. Otherwsir you will nee to access the batteries to test them.

Amazon.com has numerous replacement battery choices for the Flip Video Mino Camcorder. Just do a search for the camera name and "battery" and you'll see many options. I have had great luck with Wasabi Power brand aftermarket batteries.

I think this time your battery went flat. Not sure you can replace the battery yourself, but only with enough power, the camera will act as a external memory, so you can see and download the pictures.

Since you have already tried the reset then you are done, nothing else can be done to fix this issue, it is a battery problem The batteries are integrated to the internal circuit CCD board and are not replaceable. If I had the camera I would do my best to take it apart and find out what type of battery it uses and then go to eBay and find the correct cell type and replace it. But unless you are very mechanically minded I would not recommend the trouble.

If the warranty still covers this item you should take it back and get it repaired/replaced as it obviously faulty.

Anything that can use rechargeable AAs can use standard AAs, if they get hot I suggest changing the brand of batteries you are using.

I had this same issue. Slide the front cover off, replace the battery pack with 2 AA batteries. If the Flip powers on your problem is the battery pack and not the Flip itself. Battery packs sell for $29 at Best Buy or as low as $17 from amazon.com.

I found a fix that worked for mine.
It was doing the same thing, freezing at the "Flip" screen and would not turn off. I did the remove the batteries deal. It worked once but issue reoccured 2 months later and the battery fix didn't fix it.
What did fix it was...
With the camera off, hold down the Right Arrow button and the trash can button at the same time and turn the camera on.
A few seconds later, I was at the start recording screen!!

Flip support helped me solve this problem. Their procedure is to take the batteries out of the camera and leave it sit for 48 hours. After 48 hours, put different batteries into the camera and turn it on. Your problem should be solved. It worked for me the first time and now I currently doing it for a second time. Waiting for 48 is no fun, but at least it works and fixing it is not expensive. No explanation was given to me about the problem.
