Sounds like a limit switch out of position in the safety circuit. you may need to remove the mower deck in order to check it out. possibly a bad switch also.

Hello Sir, I have a john deere 25 horse 48 inch cut,the first thing that happen was the orange button you push to back up with blades engaged quit working and then the blades wouldnt come back on after...

sounds like the switch is bad, you will need to check it, as it may be just a loose connection, you can jump it out to test it out, or just straight wire it. Good luck Tim

Belt comes off my John Deere L A 110 42 inch cut when blades are disengaged!

3 things:
1. disengage the blades and allow them to come to a complete stop before reducing the engine RPM
2. adjust the belt tension by loosening the bolt where the cable to engage the blades is attached to the maximum.
3. replace the belt.

Stalls when engage blades in forward, but cuts fine in reverse

Did you try to disengage the safety feature that should shut the tractor off when the blades are engaged and the tractor is placed in reverse? I believe that it is located under the shift leaver
