Question about Dishwashers
Rack question.....we have an ancient dishwasher - which is integrated and still works perfectly (though obviously I've jinxed that now!). The model number/make is: Philips Whirlpool DW721/1 w .........really could do with replacing the upper and lower racks due to rust.....is there any chance these are a) available or b) would current model racks fit? Thank you x
The racks are probably no longer available new but if you check with appliance repair shops they shouls have something that will work because several brands are made by the same mfg and parts wioll interchange.

SOURCE: Rusty dish rack
Clearly a design or manufacturing flaw. I have the same model and the rack is disintegrating after 6 years. I believe it is a manufacturing flaw. Our previous dishwasher rack lasted over 20 years in the same conditions. Same construction, vinyl covered steel. New upper and lower racks cost over 200.00 and there is no guarantee that this won't happen every six years. I recommend a new non-Maytag dishwasher as soon as you can. Meanwhile, limp along with the defective racks.

Yes, I resolved the problem after thoroughly studying the assembly. It was relatively simple; all I had to do was turn the spray tower 90 degrees and it came free of the rack.
Thanks for the web site, nonetheless.

Sounds like the hose assembly that attaches to the rear of the upper rack has come undone. just pull out the upper rack and reconnect it.
please rate my answer as a fixya! thanks.

I am here for the exact same reason. Mine is less than 3 months old. This may be a recall item. I bought, and paid more for a kitchen aide for the name and reputation.....Where can I find the model number?

Can you tell me if the problem was fixed by the original posters?
The multi-level wash direction feature uses a check valve just below the mesh filter asembaly and is driven by a vario motor underneath the check valve. By removing the mesh filter (10 screws and the lower spray arm) you expose the check valve. It is very close to the pump that empties the water through the drain hose.
High probability problems: -The Check Valve could be jamed/stuck. -Also, the Vario Motor could have failed
Please respond back with the findings on this problem. Thanks!

Tips for a great answer:
Good Morning friend, thank you for your post!
Based off what your have described you need assistance in removing the top rack off your Electrolux dishwasher. In order to remove the top rack you would need to remove the caps from your rail and you should be able to pull it up and out. I hope this information is helpful. -Matt
