My minka-aire fan and light won't turn on with remote, remote has a new battery

The remote or the receiver in the fixture may have failed. Try disconnecting power at the source, waiting a few minutes, reconnecting power, and testing operation. Power outages can mess up normal operation.

Why don't fan and lights work consistently?

Welcome to the quirky world of R/C ceiling fans. The basic "cure" is to turn off power at the source, not the fan and not at a wall switch. Wait for a few minutes and turn on the power. You may have full operation restored...or not. Power outages can be a source of trouble as well. You may have to "reset" everything afterwards.

The receiver in the fixture can fail, in which case you may be able to control either the fan or the light but not both.

The dip switch settings in the remote and receiver must match so setting and resetting could be a source of problems.

Why did the remote suddenly stop working?

Try disconnecting power at the source, not a switch. Wait for a minute or so and turn on the power again. This action may "reset" the receiver. You also may find that remote control is restored after a power outage. Finally, if nothing else works, you may have to install a replacement Lutron receiver.

Is there a way to take remote controll off of a fan mine stoped working after kids pulled fan or light pull

My ceiling fan loses remote control every time there is a power outage. The first thing to do is turn off power to the fan at the circuit breaker. Take the battery out of the remote and push all the buttons to eliminate a stuck button as a possible cause. Reinstall the battery. Turn on power to the fan. Check operation. You may have to pull a chain to "reeducate" the remote but you should be back up and running soon.

Remote controls will not work after smart meter installed by Central Maine Power

Power meter install is same as having a momentary power outage as meter is pulled from socket (like pulling extension cord out of outlet) and then new meter is 'stabbed' or pushed back into place.

I'm not sure if remote can flip off and need to be reset without knowing exactly what the remote operates, and the brand and model number of remote so I can look up possible instruction manual.

If you have a manual, then read about 'reset.'

Please add a comment with specific details for best answer.

Limit switch will not reset automaticly after power outage. no heat just fan with power comes back on.

The limit switch and the power outage should not be related. However if the switch is not reseting after a 30 degree drop it should be replaced.

Fan is Erratic

Ceiling fans with wireless remote controls have an electronic receiver installed in the fan, which controls the light, dimming, and fan speed. Sometimes the receiver goes bad and needs to be replaced. If you have had any power outages or power surges, they may have fried the receiver. I've noticed that my ceiling fan light turns on when the power is restored after a power outage. Now, whenever my power goes out, I shut off the light switch that powers my ceiling fan so It doesn't experience a surge to to the controller when the power comes back on. I've purchased new receivers on eBay and Amazon to replace my blown remotes and receivers.
