SOURCE: fridge freezer door ice maker

the ice maker controls the seloniod the icemaker wire arm must be all the way down .just because the seloniod test good doesnt mean the valve seat isnt stuck the water valves open by your house water pressure if your filter is dirty this can also lower the pressure if the icemaker module is bad this also can cause it if you pull the front of the ice-maker off you will se a bunch of holes if you get a piece of 10 Gage house strip about 1/4 inch off either side and insert it into the holes marked t and h that will test cycle the ice maker they will be close together don't get shocked if the ice maker cycles and doesnt fill and the ice maker fill tube isn't frozen replace the water valve if the ice-maker doesn't cycle replace the brown motor module

and these would be automatic, driven by the controls on the front panel, right?

is it the case that the solenoids need to be turned manually?

SOURCE: Problem with ice dispensing. I

hi,
Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer. There is a board on the front of the refrigerator for the ice/water functions. Sometimes, replacing this board fixes the problem. Mostly, the problem is in the main control board. In any case, both are easy repairs. But try to get it done by some mechanic if u r not able to do it.

Thanks

Water valve for ice maker may be bad. there are two valves with one supply line, one valve controls the water dispenser and one for the ice maker. you can ohm out the solenoids, it'll ohm if its good and won't if its bad

if the water is stored in a container matrix in the fridge (to cool it down b4 dispensing) it may have frozen up. best give the unit a complete defrost to see if this is occuring, if so the thermistors may be faulty.

Ice macker will not make ice have water going to I havewater I front door but no water in ice tray

The water supply valve is a dual one with separate solenoids for ice and water. I bet your water supply valve is shot. themobilian_2698.jpg

My water will not come out of the water despenser

start by checking the solenoid that supplies the dispenser to see if it is burned out. It is usually located in the back lower part of frig where the water inlet line hooks to. There are usually 2 solenoids.... the ice maker and the dispenser. Unplug the frig before testing these. The resistance across the ice maker and dispenser are usually the same. If the dispenser solenoid is "open" on the ohm meter then the whole water supply valve needs replaced. Another problem with some units where the dispenser is on the FREEZER side...the lines behind the door will freeze.

Water & ice doesn't work on door

Check for a crushed or kinked water supply line if the fridge has been moved just prior to the problem. It could also be a switch or water supply solenoid at the back of the fridge. If you hear clicking when the ice maker is trying to fill or water is to be dispensed, the switch and solenoids are probably ok, but the water is off or blocked - have you changed the filter recently - it may be time!

Good luck!

Water is not going into icemaker, I've replaced

I have a maytag side by side with water in the door, the cold water works but the icemaker doesn't. No water flow into the icemaker, it doesn't appear to be iced up. Can not tell if the selenoid works.

Water dispenser no longer works.

Where the water supply connects to the Ref there is one water valve but, two solenoids. One for the water and one for the ice maker. An OHM meter will tell you if these solenoids are good.

Solenoids good;
Set the meter to volts and check if power is getting to the water solenoid while pressing the water despensor. No power, bad switch.

Ice maker been working fine, just stopped?

If no ice is being made at all it is probably one of three problems. The ice maker itself needs replacing. The water inlet valve needs replacing. Or the freezer is not 10 degrees or less. You will need to test the water valve solenoids. If you have water in the door then there will be two solenoids. One for the ice maker water and one for the water in the door. They are both mounted on the same assembly. The easiest way for you to test is with a meter. You want to check for continuity on the solenoid for the ice maker. If no continuity, it is bad. If you have both water in the door and ice maker and no meter you can swap the two quick disconnects on the two solenoids and then see if you still get water from the door by now using the other solenoid. If you do not, then you know that, that solenoid is bad. If the soloind is good then you probably have a bad ice maker not calling the ice maker fill valve to allow water.

Water dispenser quit working

Make sure that the water filter is the right one and that it is pushed all the way in. If that is correct than There should be two solenoids located behind the fridge at the bottom one is for your ice and one for water. Unplug unit and test the water solenoid with an ohm meter across the two terminals if it ohms out or beeps than your solenoid is bad.
