Dear Mr. Yaseen; To install windows XP SP2, you will need a disk that self installs the windows. You will be asked very few questions. Now, who said that the computer does not see your drice? In order that we can check that we will need a Rescue Floppy Disk. When you bought the computer you were given two (2) CD/DVD, one contains the OS and the other the drivers. If the drive C is corrupt beyond repair, you will need the Rescue Floppy Drive, which open the way to MSDOS, upon which Windows XP SP2 is based. Remove all CD/DVD from the computer and insert the Rescue Floppy Diskette. It should start immediately. It will ask you one question, if you want to have CD/DVD help and you say yes. The rest will happen automatically and a new drive named "A" will be established: There is no drive "B" in normal windows; drive C is usually the "windows XP SP2" drive; drive D can be the C

There is no drive "B" in normal windows; drive C is usually the "windows XP SP2" drive; drive D can be the CD/DVD drive. Look for the CD/DVD drive which also will be the windows install drive. Check the directory by pressing "dir"; you will see "windows" and another called "installed" or "setup". Go back to "X:\" where the letter represents the CD/DVD where you have inserted the windows installation disk and type [install or setup] space [X:\*.*]space[c:\*.*] This means "Install or sertup from X:\ to c:\everything". Please get back to us if you have a booting problem with windows XP SP2. Follow instructions and answer questions! Windows will install correctly. Once done fix your screen and the fastest you can install (1) anti-virus; (2) Adobe Flash Player and (3) Adobe Reader, (1) is for security and the other two will help you viw various graphics. Once you your windows is installed, remove the disk. Once you are satisfied with the performance you insert the Driver CD/DVD and install all the drivers that are necessary. The sound that accompanies the windows on turn-on verifies that you have sound. If you have a problem with sound and the computer cannot read the disk, it may be necessary that you go to ASUS and download the sound driver software (it used to be much easier, but with special high definition sound, it became a lot more difficult). So you go to ASUS or the computer manufacturer (HP for Compaq). You download the sound drivers and you save them in a folder. The files are all ending with "* .exe". This means you can start them by double clicking in the screen and continuing until they are installed. Please, remember that this is a complex process. Do not hesitate to get in touch with us.....

Hi, I'm having K8V-MX Asus mother board with AMD 3000+ processor wih 1GB DDR ram, with 80 GB PATA Segate HDD connected. After adding 500GB SATA HDD to this mother board, my system performance is very low....

Thanks for the details. I have used K8V-MX Asus motherboard and found it very reliable with quite reasonable performance. It definately supports 500 GB Sata drive and there must not be any issues after increasing just the storage. However, Operating System upgrade may result in sluggish performance. Drivers dont seem to be an issue to me either.
I suggest to review a few points detailed as under: -
- K8V-MX Asus Supports RAID, so, check for any RAID Drivers/ settings. (You dont have to use RAID for two Hard Drives of different make, capacity and speed). Try using one disk at a time having same Operating System (e.g. Windows XP) and compare the performance.
- Infact SATA Drives have better data transfer rate than IDE, which results in enhanced performance.
- Some Programs (that you may not be using with 80GB drive) Like antivirus may result in decreased performance.
- Please Review you Operating System environment and software installed. Make sure that the new drive & Operating System are free of any virus, which results in CPU Utilization upto 100%.
- Also, motherboard supports Max 2GB RAM, so you may consider adding more RAM.

Let me know if any further clarification/ assistance is required.
Hope it helps! Good Luck!

I need video card drivers for k8v-mx

Please, take your time in explaining what you need. You are not writing an SMS on a mobile. The drivers come with the OS you are using. When you run the installation disk, it will install all the drivers you need. Some may go to the Mother Board and others to the PCI system and your computer will operate correctly. Please, do not assume that the only part of the computer is the Mother Board. Leave the MB alone and install what you need the most: your OS! CONSTANTIN (arzconst)
