Replacing existing DDR RAM

Which kind of DDR-SDRAM can I use with the MSI MS-6742 motherboard?
Is it possible to use anything else than PC1600 or PC2100?
TIA,

Your motherboard has "avaliable bandwidth up to 2.7GB/s (DDR333) for single channel mode and 5.4 GB/s (DDR 333) for dual channel mode. (DDR 400 please refer to manual P.B-1 for more details)"
and "Supports Single or Dual Channel DDR 400/333/266 MHz"

That means that you can use almost every memory as long as it is DDR1.

Beware that your mobo only supports a maximum of 2GB ram, so using 512MB stick would be advised.

Cheers

Memory settings for ddr

http://www.motherboards.org/mobot/motherboards_d/ECS/K7AMA/

Since the Processor Front Side Bus (FSB) support is 200 or 266MegaHertz (MHz), the ram memory will be DDR Sdram at either 100Megahertz or 266MHz.

That is PC1600 and PC2100, respectively.

2GB's maximum TOTAL amount for motherboard.
1GB per ram memory slot - Maximum

If you have a Socket A (Socket 462) AMD processor with a 200MHz FSB, I suggest DDR Sdram at 100MHz. (PC1600)

AMD processor with 266MHz Front Side Bus = either PC1600, or PC2100. I would go with PC2100.

Voltage in BIOS Setup is 2.5 Volts. That is is the JEDEC standard voltage, for DDR Sdram.
Ram timings will be dependent upon what the ram memory supports.

IF you have just ONE ram memory module ('Stick'), it goes in Slot 1.
(DIMM 1)
This is the ram memory slot the Processor reads first.

"When it comes to innovative motherboards ECS is not a company that first comes to mind. Not since the days of the K7AMA that offered DDR266 and PC133 memory options for AMD's K7 line of processors has ECS released a motherboard that has filled a gapping hole in the PC hardware market space. Lets just hope that the failure rate of the 945GCD-M is nothing like the failure prone K7AMA."

Hmmmmm,

PC Motherboard Memory upgrade

From Asus tech: Memory 3 184-pin DIMM slots for PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM
Supports up to 2GB memory
No ECC supportThis is only compatible RAM so make sure your new chip is PC1600 or PC2100. If you mis the 2 it the faster RAM will run at the slower chip speed. Hope this helps.

Radeon graphics card and 3rd RAM slot conflict

I thought this board looked familiar to me. I recall some rules for the memory cards. Do all your memory cards meet this requirement:

Supports up to 3GB PC1600/2100/2700/3200* DDR SDRAMs

If you are using DDR 400 you can only use 1 slot.

What kind of memory are you using?
