2003 Mercury mountaineer high pitch whining sounds like front passengers side- just started today - worse when you accelerate - husband thinks it might be idler pulley bearing??

If it is the idler pulley for the accessory belt, it would make the sound at all times the engine is running, not just under acceleration. I would look to the wheel bearing or the brakes on that corner of the vehicle.

Throttle position sensor

Should be on the left or right side of the throttle body opposite side of where the accelerator cable attaches. The TPS is a reostat (Variable resister) that is turned by the armature running through the throttle body.

Abs light comes when I accelarate to make a right or left turn from a side street or if I accelerate hard from a dead stop

First get the code that set the MIL Lamp. Will most likely, point to ABS Wheel Speed Sensor or System.
Then have the system diagnosed and repaired

2002 s10 zr2 runs rough bogs down when you

First check for any cracked pipes leading into the intake manifold If all OK (with no codes showing it probably is OK) try checking the fuel pressure regulator. If you smell fuel from the pressure regulator vacuum side arm (when the vacuum line has been disconnected) it needs to be replaced.

2001 Mercury Mountaineer won't idle. It will run when I've got my foot on the accelerator, but as soon as I take it off, it dies. What's wrong with it?

Sounds like a faulty, IAC valve (idle air control) which controls your idle under load etc. Normally mounted on side of throttle body.Fairly simple for technician to test with ohmmeter to confirm before replacing. If your familiar with ohmmeter, get back to me and I'll guide you through test, otherwise shouldn't cost much for mechanic to test.
