Question about Mitsubishi WT-42311 42" Rear Projection Television

Red tint on the entire picture

I've had this model since may of 2003. Never any problems until about the last year. First I had a problem with green & blue "ghosts". No matter what you did the crossbars wouldn't line up. Forunately I had the extended warranty and two modules were replaced.

Today I have a heavy red tint on the entire picture. I first noticed a line rolling across the screen that started at the bottom and rolled to the top of the screen. After about 45 minutes I changed channels and now have this red tiny over the entire screen. Any ideas what could possibly be wrong?

I'm not sure if this set is still covered under the extended warranty..

OK, I have the access panel off but I don't see where the red screen control is. I found the two modules that were replaced earlier. Could you possibly tell me where this red control is to adjust this?

    Thanks.....

Always try your extended warranty!.....Probable cause = bad
red tube. One adjustment may help---turn down red screen
control, located behind technician access panel in front of set.

The picture has a green tint to it on all channels

The color signal consists of Red, Green and Blue. Those three colors, at various degrees, make all the other colors on your screen.

If you have a BRIGHT green screen it's best you don't operate your set.
If it's just tinted green then there is a problem on the CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) drive board. Do check your "tint" setting and see if someone misadjusted it. If that isn't it then you need to have your set on an electronics bench and get an estimate for repair.

Have a green tint over 90% ot the center of the screen

I had the same problem with my 60V500A about a year ago. The screen got a red tint in the center and the image was fuzzy in that area. A new lamp didn't solve the problem. I did some checking and found out that the original light engine used in this model had a cooling issue that could cause the light engine to overheat and distort the LCD panels. My warranty had run out more than a year before this happened so I figured I was screwed since the light engine was so expensive. I decided to call Hitachi tech support and see if I could get a discount on the cost of a new light engine since the cooling problem was a known issue for this model TV. I calmly explained to them that I was aware of the cooling issue in the light engine and that I felt like a $4000 TV should last more than two or three years. Tech support gave me the phone number for my local authorized Hitachi service center and I gave them a call. Once the technician confirmed that it was the light engine that was the problem Hitachi sent him a replacement light engine at no cost to me. I was WAY past my warranty period so I still had to pay for the labor to replace the light engine. $300 for labor was a lot cheaper than buying a new light engine or tossing the TV and buying a new one. I have to say that Hitachi earned my respect for admitting there was a problem and doing what was needed to correct the problem more than a year after my warranty had expired.

This is for the 50" Vizio TV,

It sound like the control board has a problem. There is two way to fix this.

- Upgrade the firmware of the control board, If you can find the firmware upgrade device.
- Replace the control board (I think this the best solution)

Green Tint Over Entire Printed Picture

I had a very similar problem and found out that the problem was the quality of paper I was using. Remember, a photo printer is expecting high quality results. Cheap, low quality paper will not accept the ink as well as higher quality paper. I can't guarantee this will solve your problem but I have not had any green tints since switching to a higher quality photo paper.

Too much green color

Problem solved. I tried playing DVD and the TV picture was fine. So I double-checked cable wires from cable box - one of the wires was loose (obviously it was the red color input). After tightening, the TV picture is good as new.

Toshiba 32A41 TV -- color problem

Toshibas are notorious for developing shorts in the inernal guns of the picture tube. In your case the green gun is shorted to G1. The noise you heard was an internal arc between the elements. It is unfortunate however, the repair of this problem usually requires the picture tube to be replaced. Sometimes a savvy technician with sencore picture tube rejuvenator can remove the short. This however usually does not last. Scrivitron
