In the help that I've seen so far there seems to be an easy way to adjust custom print sizes. However, I'm unable to find any options for doing this in the device settings. I'm trying to print an envelope that is 10.82" x 4.48" Thank you

You should be able to print on both, but I wouldn't advise it at all. The envelopes are going to jam a LOT and you WILL eventualy get a label stuck inside the machine. Possible....yes. But I don't recommend it. :)

Most copiers have a stack bypass or single sheet bypass with adjustable walls. hit the paper select key to choose the bypass and run a test sheet to see which side it copies on. Some copiers copy on the top while others copy on the bottom.

Please teach me how to use my HPF4185 to print envelopes. Thanks.

Hi

Use the product software, also known as the printer driver, to change the print settings for your envelope size and type. Then, use the Envelopes and Labels tool in Microsoft Word to select your envelope size.

Step one: Adjust the print settings

-In Microsoft Word, click File , and then click Print .
-Make sure that your product is in the Name drop-down list box, and then click Properties .
-Click the Features tab, or the Paper/Quality tab.
-Select an envelope size from the Size drop-down list.
-If the required paper size is not in the drop-down list, follow these steps to create a custom paper size.
-Select Custom from the drop-down list.
-In the Custom Paper Size dialog box, type a name for the new custom size.
-In the Width and Height boxes, type the dimensions.
-Select the unit of measurement, and then click Save .
-Click OK to close the Custom Paper Size dialog box, and then click OK again to close the Properties dialog box.
NOTE: You must exit the Properties dialog box to apply your changes.
Open the Properties dialog box again, and select the new custom size from the Size drop-down list.
-Select the paper type.
-In the Paper Type or Type is drop down list, click More .
-Click the desired paper type, and then click OK .
-Select the paper source from the Paper Source drop-down list.
-Change any other settings, and then click OK to close the Properties dialog box.

Step two: Set the correct envelope size

-Set the correct envelope size in the Envelopes and Labels dialog box before printing envelopes.
-In Microsoft Word, click Tools , click Letters and Mailings , and then click Envelopes and Labels .
-In the Envelopes and Labels dialog box, click the Envelopes tab.
-Click Options .
-From the Envelope size drop-down list, select the required paper size. If you created a custom paper size, select the new custom paper size from the drop-down list.
-Click OK , and then click Close to close the Envelopes and Labels dialog box.
-Click File , and then click Print to print the envelope.
NOTE: When you finish printing the envelopes, return the paper size and the paper type settings to the defaults.

When trying to print #9 envelopes on our Phaser 8560, I'm not given #9 as an option. Is there a way to force it to print to #9's? It seems crazy to me that such a common envelope isn't listed.

In the envelope selection you should also have a custom size so you can input the #9 dimensions and have it print. You just select custom size and input the length and width of your envelope.

Printing small envelopes

In Word 2007, use the Mailing > Envelopes > Options section.

In 2003 I think it was under Tools > Envelopes & Mailings > Options.

There you'll be able to specify if the manual feed is top first or edge first, to the left, centered, or to the right, and how far over and down to place the address and return address.

After a few adjustment runs, it works great.

Need to print a half-fold card envelope with HP Photosmart C4480

I'm printing wedding invitation envelopes (or A6) and had to set both my C4480 and psc1315 to a regular size 8.5x11 letter size but changed my margins to reflect the smaller size for my envelope with the left side of the screen being the more narrow margin. After adjusting the top margin accordingly, I fed the envelopes, flap side down and straight into the printer and voila...envelope addresses are printed. Good luck. Blu

I am too stupid to print an envelope

No, your not. The M24 has to be the hardest machine on earth to print an envelope on, It is the biggest headache I have ever seen in printing. Here are the instructions and good luck.

NOTE: The PCL driver is the only driver supported for printing envelopes. There is no support for printing to envelopes using the Adobe PostScript® printer driver. It is necessary to complete all steps to successfully print envelopes.

NOTE: If printing through a server, changes to the driver must be made at the server level.

To set up the custom size paper for the printer:

NOTE: The setup of the custom size paper is a one-time step. Once the custom size is setup it remains an available paper size until it is changed.
  1. At the workstation, click on [Start], point to [Settings], then select [Printers].
  2. Right-click on your printer and select [Properties] from the menu. The Printer Properties window will be displayed.

NOTE: Use the custom size paper in the printer driver when printing within an application.

  3. Select the [Configuration] tab.
  4. Select [Bypass Feed Orientation] and make sure it is set to Portrait in order to feed the envelopes long edge feed (LEF).
  5. Select [Custom Paper Size].
  6. Select one of the five custom sizes.

NOTE: There are five custom sizes that can be set up for use in the printer driver properties. Custom Paper Size can be given an individual name by selecting [Name]and typing the name for the custom size, such as, envelope. The name will then appear as an option in output size.

Three types of envelopes are supported:
Type for Envelope Metric Size Imperial Size Monarch 98.4 mm x 191 mm 3.9 x 7.5 Inch Commercial #10 105 mm x 241 mm 4 x 9.5 Inch DL 110 mm x 220 mm 4 x 8.6 Inch
  1. Enter the short edge and long edge values for the envelope size you are using. The driver will now show the new custom size as one of the choices in Output Size.
  2. Click [OK].
To set your printing preferences for the printer:
  1. At the workstation, click on [Start], point to [Settings], then select [Printers].
  2. Right-click on the printer you want to print envelopes and select [Properties] from the menu that will be displayed.
  3. Select [Printing Preferences].
  4. Select [Tray 5] (Bypass) for the Paper Source.
  5. Select [Heavyweight 2 (170-220 g/m²)] for the Paper Type.
  6. Select the custom size you created for envelopes for the Output Size.
  7. Click [OK] twice to exit the Printing Preferences and the Properties windows.
To print envelopes at the workstation using Microsoft Word®:
  1. Open your Word application.
  2. Select [File] on the top left of the toolbar.
  3. Select [Print] from the menu. The Printer window will be displayed.
  4. Select the printer that you will use to print the envelopes. This printer will use the same driver where you defined the custom paper size.
  5. Select [Close].

NOTE:If you do not select the correct driver you will not be able to select the correct paper size in Page Setup.
To print envelopes at the workstation using Microsoft Word Page Setup:
  1. Open your Word application.
  2. Select [File] on the top left of the toolbar.
  3. Select [Page Setup] from the menu. The Page Setup window will be displayed.
  4. Select the [Paper Size] tab.
  5. Use the paper size pull-down to select the paper size you defined in the driver. The paper size will be listed by the name you gave it in the driver setup. The default will be custom 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5.
  6. Make sure the orientation is set to Landscape and select [OK]. At this point edit the page with the information you want printed on the envelope.
  7. Select [File] from the toolbar.
  8. Select [Print].
To load envelopes at the printer:

Load the envelopes into Paper Tray 5 (Bypass Tray). The orientation needs to be long edge feed (LEF) with the flap closed and the flap side at the lead edge, and the print side facing down. The printer is now set to print on the envelope.

NOTE: Load a maximum of 10 envelopes into Tray 5 (Bypass Tray) at a time. You may be able to fit a few more depending on the envelope's thickness but do not exceed the max fill line on the tray. The envelope may wrinkle depending on its weight and stiffness. The machine is not designed to handle high-capacity production envelope printing.

Can't print custom paper size on HP Photosmart C6180

Printing anything other than 8.5" x 11" I have found challenging but there is a way around it. When you are ready to print select Print and go to
"Properties" button beside the name of the Printer.
Select normal for your print quality,
Paper source select Main Tray,
in resizing options select the size you need. In this case you would make a custom or perhaps the Card Envelope 4" x 6"
Select "Scale to paper size"
under the Resolution button there is a box "Show preview before printing" I select that so that I can see for sure before printing that it is recognizing my special paper and not the usual 8.5 x 11 sheet.
If it all looks good and it should, START PRINTING

You have to do this everytime you want to print a special size paper. If you print a lot of this size of paper custom name it something easy like your name"Krissy card env" so you can find it quickly and remember easily the process you follow.
