If you have paid for Microsoft Office Professional, then I recommend contacting Microsoft and trying to get a replacement product ID, explaining the situation.
Otherwise, there are some nice free alternatives to MS Office. I use
Open Office - It has a good spreadsheet facility, allows you to create presentations and work with databases as well as creating word documents. It's fully compatible with Microsoft file types, so you can edit any file you created using Microsoft Office. The only problem you might have is occasionally Open Office interprets formatting in a slightly different way. If you use a lot of text boxes, you may find you have to re-position them once you import a file.
There are also other alternatives to consider - Google Docs is good as long as you have a decent internet connection. This link takes you to a list of 10 free Office applications:
