BLURRY (OUT OF FOCUS) PICTURES BOTH IN VIEWFINDER AND PICTURES

I have a Pentax optio m40 and suddenly one day i noticed that all the
pictures and the viewfinder became blurry.I checked all setting back
to default but the problem remains. It have never dropped or mishandled it.
Could dust or moisture effect the inner parts of the camera as i never use its case and some times i leave it my car. Something i did notice is light
dust beneath the lcd screen and a small dot in the viewfinder only visible at max zoom. Possible that this could be in the lens.
