Front loader tub will start to spin and reverse to balance clothing but after a few attempts Error 3. I can pull filter and empty water then spin is OK but still does not release any surplus water.

  • Ken Anderson Jun 23, 2009

Ok that sounds like a plan.

  • Ken Anderson Jun 23, 2009

Might have to get the pro's in. I can blow down the tube you mentioned and as the machine still has water in it, hear bubbles but still no spin.

Can't seem to find the meaning of the error code, from 20 years experience tells me either you have a blocked strainer which can be accessed and cleaned in the pump area or the problem is with the speed control board. either way there should be a tech sheet that gives you the meaning of the error code inside the machine. try clean the strainer and try running the machine again. Hope this helps!

Make sure belt is fine as well as pump spinning free and motor pivoting on it’s plate freely. After that, raise top like you are going to remove the tub cover and set unit into spin. With the motor running, and the tub just sitting there not spinning reach in and see if you can rotate the inner basket almost like a roulette wheel. If you can, that means your brake is released and your belt, motor, pump, brake and bearings are all fine, your trans is shot. If you can not, that means your brake is still holding or you have an article of clothing stuck between the tubs. If the brake is holding, you will just need a thrust bearing kit.. hope this helped!

Unplug the appliance and drag the machine out.
Take the top off and locate the pressure switch. You'll recognize it because it has a thin tube attached to it.
Take this tube off and blow as hard as you can down this tube to try and clear any blockage or restriction.
Refit the tube and try the machine again.

Maytag top load replaced belts and still washer will leave water on spin cycle half full. If I play around with it I can get it to drain

If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. If it's in the pump, you need to remove the hoses from the pump and pull the item out. To remove the sock from the outer tub port, open the washer's main access panel and remove the large-diameter rubber hose that connects the pump to the bottom of the outer tub. Then, using needle-nose pliers, try to grab and remove the clothing through the port. Sometimes you can't remove the stuck clothing from below. Then you have to remove the agitator, top of the outer drum shield, and inner clothes tub. This isn't easy to do--and you may need special tools--so you might be happier getting a qualified appliance repair technician to do the job. If the drain line isn't plugged, the problem may be with your pump. Even if the pump appears to be turning, the internal impeller may be broken. If so, you need to replace the pump.

Maytag PAV2000AWW will not drain or spin in 2 of the 3 wash cycle

It won't drain
If your washer won't drain, check these:
It spins, but doesn't pump
If your washer spins but doesn't pump the water out, the drain line is probably clogged. In many washers, a small sock or other piece of clothing can get between the clothes tub and the outer tub that holds the water. If the clothing gets between the tubs, it may then get into the drain hose that's attached to the pump--or even into the pump itself. It doesn't spin or pump
If your washer doesn't spin or pump water out but the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley. If so, you need to replace the pump. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it.
It pumps, but the water returns
If the water that pumps out of the machine goes back into the machine after the spin cycle, your washer may be siphoning the water from a laundry tub that has a slow drain, back into the washer. The usual remedy for this is to improve the draining of the laundry tub. (Is something stuck in the drain?) Also, check for these problems:
If the drain hose reaches more than about 4 inches into the laundry tub, cut off the excess.
If your drain hose is lower than the washer's cabinet, install an air gap/siphon break assembly.

Maytag neptune stops in mid cycle

It sounds like your drain pump is going. Neptunes are suppose to neqarly dry the clothes with how fast it spins. A poor drain pump/motor, could cause this to be less effective. There could also be something in the drain lines. I would check that before you pay money on a pump though.

Maytag MAF1300AAW Error code 4. The machine starts to fill then drains which is repeated several times before eror code 4 appears.

Hi this searstechtoo I did some research on similar american models and will paste what I found for you.
Will Not Lock
• Door not all the way closed or not properly
aligned. Possible laundry load is too large to
close door.
• Place washer into Service Mode and check for
diagnostic codes 4 &18.
• Perform Board Output Test. Check door lock
system.
• Check electrical connections at lock switch
assembly and machine control board (CN2).
Cn2 is a thermistor used in a wax motor to control the lock and unlock feature of the door.
I would start at the lock and trace the wires then unplug and replug them.
Thanks SearsTechToo

Maytag Front Load Washer - SD error

hi there,

it appears that you have a door switch problem. the door latches on these machines are equiped with a mechanical switch and if this switch disengages in any way, the machine thinks that the door is open, even if it's not.

the code that you see is actually a "dS", which stands for door switch.

check the door latch, which is where the door switch is located.

thanks.

MAYTAG MAH5500BWW Fails to spin properly clothes wet

I replaced the motor and circuit board but that did not fix it. I changed the out of balance switch and the shock absorbers or snubbers. I think the ultamate fix was the snubbers. it has worked great since. They wear out like your car shock absorbers allowing the drum to shake too much triggering the out of balance switch to stop and restart the spin.
