Riding lawnmower older Craftsman 143406012 12hp tecumseh keeps searching/surging . rebuilt carb and adjusted governor, still searching. Now I am Searching for help.
The needle valve on carb is out of adjustment it should be turned all the way in & out 1-1/2 turns to 2 turns try that & let me know if i can further help ya

Yeah, these belts can seem impossible to figure out. There are idler pulleys that press against the back of the belt. The routing is sometimes not obvious. Do a search for your particular model.
The domestic engines (Briggs, Tecumseh) take SAE 30 weight motor oil. The import engines (Honday, Kawasaki) usually take 10W30 motor oil. In either case, I recommend using a good quality name brand oil like Castrol, Pennzoil, etc. Most riding mower engine take about 48oz from a complete drain. If your engine has an external filter, it might require a few more ounces. I hope this helps.
