Worx battery charger issues

What is the problem with the worx charger and battery for a 18" hammer drill wx18hd. The charger without a battery connected light is green. When I charge a battery for several hours the charge holds for about 5mins.

SOURCE: The WORX triimer battery is

Make sure the battery and trimmer's contacts are clean- use a qtip and isopropyl alcohol, or a pencil eraser, or fine emory cloth, if corroded or oxidized. This could be a cracked, loose, or corroded connection anywhere in the wires or power feed, including the switch. If the battery is getting old, it could charge, but not hold enough juice and run down quickly. Measure the battery after it's charged, and then try to start the trimmer, and measure it again. If it's dropped, it could be a bad battery. A motor can short out, but that's the last thing to suspect. Here's what one person said in a review on

y GrampaSmo "Grampa" (Maryland USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: WORX Air WG541 18-Volt Cordless Blower/Sweeper (Lawn & Patio) The blower is ok but the battery does not last more than 5-7 minutes. I called Worx and they replaced the battery but it still does not work more than 7 - 10 minutes. Worx said I needed to recondition the battery by draining it totally then recharging (4 times) and to always drain fully before putting back on charger. This did not work. When I asked Worx for my money back they told me they couldn't do that at this time (even though the product is under the 2 yr warranty timeframe).
Bottom line: don't waste your money. Product is POOR.

Not encouraging, but hopefully it's just dirty terminals.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

SOURCE: I am having problems with the battery on my worx

You can determine exactly what is going on by using a small handheld voltmeter. They are inexpensive, easy to use and come in very handy. Just test the output of the charger (after noting what the volt-output-rating is) by touching the leads of the meter to the terminals on the charger. If the charger is working at all, this is not a dangerous test. Conversely, test the output of your batteries by touching the leads of the voltmeter to the terminals on them. I suspect the charger is bad because after they overheat, they quit working and some don't last very long. I don't think YOU are doing anything wrong, just maybe the companies that manufacture these 2 electrical products are.

Charger light blinks red never goes to solid red which is charging mood Had a friend charge the battery it does charge problem is with the charger not the battery

Worx has had issues with their chargers and their batteries. They don't seem to last as long as the machine does. A simple voltmeter test of the charger and any battery will tell the story. The charger's output rating should be printed on it and the battery also. Touch test leads from voltmeter to the two and check.
