When using the powermate of our electrolux vacuum clearner to vacuum the carpeting, it continually cuts out. What can I do to remedy this?

Please clarify model. If this is older than 5 yaers your motor and or brush roll need to be removed cleaned and lubricated.Something is binding inside generally due to hair and dirt at the end of the brush roll. Do not continue to run the head in this condition

SOURCE: carpet rollers dont work

Hi There,

Yes, there is a reset switch on your Electrolux. This particular model also has some problems with the wands on the machine as well. Sometimes these wands will short out, preventing the power nozzle from working.

Try pushing the reset switch first to see if this fixes your problem. The reset switch is located on the power nozzle on the right hand side if you're looking down on it. It will be a little red pole, simply push this pole downwards, possible using a ball point pen is the easiest way.

If this didn't fix your problem, then it could be a few different things. The wands on your model are problematic, and should be the next thing that you test. Simply remove the wands from the power nozzle, and you can use a simply electrical tester purchased from Home Depot, and put the testers into the female receptacles on the end of each section of wand to ensure that power is getting down to the brush.

It may also be that your hose has gone bad. If you test both wand sections, and no power is getting through, remove both wand sections and test the female electrical connections on the end of the hose handle.

If you're not getting power here, this indicates that your hose has gone bad and needs to be replaced. We do carry all of the hoses for the Electrolux canisters, and most likely have the one for yours in stock. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further help.

Thank you,

Chris Jones

Electrolux epic 6500 carpet sweeper cuts off and on while vacuuming

Your description indicates an internal break in the wiring carrying the current to the sweeper motor, though it could be just a loose connection.
The unit will need at least partially dismantling for testing and examination.

Can I lift the vacuum beater bar higher up? Bought new carpet and would like it to push smoother!!! Bought a shag carpet

No. The Electrolux (Aerus) uprights are auto adjusting to the height of the carpet. Make sure the brush is spinning when the vacuum is on. If it's not, this will cause difficulty in use.

You have a problem with the electrical switches. If you are comfortable with this, take apart and double check internal wiring to make sure nothing was frayed, or disconnected. Make sure it is unplugged. If you know how to operate a multimeter, you can use it to check continuity in each switch.
