How do I Return regular keyboard functionality on Apple MacBook Air notebook

Sounds like you need a new keyboard. You can get one from apple or a third party vendor. One thing you might try is re-installing the drivers for the keyboard.

What do the f keys mean

On each keyboard there are additional sets of keys delineated as "Function" Keys. These keys are used for additional programmed functions, such as "F8" or "Function 8" which will allow a Windows user to access a boot menu when Windows first starts up. On a regular 102 key keyboard, such as those on a desktop computer, the function keys are located at the top of the keyboard with the letter "F" preceding the number of the key. On a laptop, generally the function keys are accessed by holding down a blue "Fn" down at the bottom of the keyboard and the specific number on the numeric portion of the keyboard. So in the above example of "F8" the combination of holding down "Fn + 8" would accomplish the same action.

I hope this help and if you require additional assistance, please do not hesitate to ask.

Keyboard

Do you have a function key on your keyboard as this may have been pressed and therefore accessing shortcuts on your keyboard. The function key normally looks like this

Fn

Not sure but this may be your issue. Some function keys need to be held down and others will go on when pressed and stay on until they are pressed again.

Let me know if this helped

Keyboard locked in upper case

Hi,

Try reseating the key board.

Check whether the keys are stuck especially the shift, alt, caps lock.

Hav you spilled any liquid on the keyboad.

Try uninstalling any software you installed for the keyboard and remove it from Device Manager (Click Start-Run-Type devmgmt.msc and click OK).

Reboot and see if that helps anything. Also, check the right shift and make sure it isn't stuck and check the keyboard settings in the Control Panel

Update the keyboad software from the microsoft website.

Pleae mntion the model  number of the keyboard to help us know more about the keyboard.

You can try holding down function key and press f11.
