Question about Audio Players & Recorders
I have a Sharp CD-C415W system with three-CD player. When a CD is put into a slot in the changer tray it is recognised, and the display shows the number of tracks and total playing time. But track 1 will not play. I can select a different track, and it will play. This happens for all the different CDs I've tried --- all of which play correctly on other players.
Selecting a different track after the disc starts playing also does not work --- the disc stops spinning, and the total number of tracks and time are displayed.
I can hear the disc or some part of the mechanism rubbing as the disc turns, but cannot see what it is, on tracks other than the ones that play.
Run a "Laser Lens Cleaner" thru the unit a couple times. Use one that takes fluid, you can find them at just about any retail store for 15-20. If that doesn't solve it, it needs to be repaired. At that point weigh the cost over replacement. A new transport usually will cost 100-150 on average for parts and labor. Hope this helps
