Sony DIgital Handycam DCR TRV110E 3 solid bars across image

My camcorder has developed 3 solid bars running horizontally across the displayed image on play-back. Is displayed through viewfinder, on the LCD display and when connected to a TV. The problem happens on previously OK recordings and all new recordings.

I have the same problem with the horizontal bars on playback, but I have 5.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks.

Have 3 horizontal gray solid bars across the image. Originally an intermittent failure but now ending up with a solid failure. Is this a contact failure? How to cope with this? What would be the procedure?

Your heads need to be cleaned with a cleaning minidv tape. about $20 for one of them, otherwise you will need to fork out a bit of cash to get the heads replaced... probably better jut buying a new camera - a hardrive one!

Hi,
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Good luck!

No display in viewfinder and LCD

i think you are able too see the video in play back mode. so there is no problem in your LCD.
i think the CCD has got damaged in your CAM. that is why you are not able to view anything in shooting mode.
because CCD is the layer which converts the light falling on it to a electrical signal and shows us as a complete image.

Dark screen- No images- some shadows horizontally

If you get a blank LCD, dimly lightened by a whitish back light, then the LCD display eis either faulty, badly connected, or the ribbon connector to LCD is defective.
The camera must be taken apart, ribbon cable tested, and eventually replaced and adjusted.
If all contacts on ribbon cable return continuity (cable is fine), then LCD is faulty, and must be replaced.
Althought the job is not too difficult, an user without experience may damage the camera in attempting this repair.
My first suggestion is always taking the unit to a camera shop.

Malfunction?

If the LCD display is open, the viewfinder becomes inactive. Shut the LCD display, and the image should appear through the viewfinder. If there is still no image, the camcorder may require service.

LCD Monitor on ,and the Electronic Viewfinder turned off

If you turn on the back LCD, the electronic viewfinder will remain on while in a shooting mode. There is no setting on the camera to use only the back LCD monitor while shooting. If you playback images in the Play mode, only the LCD monitor will turn on. However, if you press the Monitor button while in the Play mode, than the back LCD monitor will turn off. The image will display only in the viewfinder LCD.
