Ac unit keeps tripping the reset button

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand your Frigidaire air conditioner, model# LRA074AT7, which keeps tripping the reset button. I see that it will start up and then trips the reset button after a minute or two. First, be sure the electrical service is adequate for the model you have chosen. This information can be found on the serial plate, which is located on the side of the cabinet and behind the grille. Secondly, be sure the air conditioner is properly grounded. To minimize shock and fire hazards, proper grounding is important. The power cord is equipped with a three-prong grounding plug for protection against shock hazards. Lastly, your air conditioner must be used in a properly grounded wall receptacle. If the wall receptacle you intend to use is not adequately grounded or protected by a time delay fuse or circuit breaker, have a qualified electrician install the proper receptacle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

I HAVE A FEDDERS AIR CONDITIONER MODEL AED24E7F-C THIS UNIT TRIPS THE RESET BUTTON ONCE IN A GREAT WHILE IT RUNS FOR HOURS OR DAYS ON END AND THEN TRIPS. IT TAKE AWHILE AFTER THAT BEFORE I CAN RESET...

The reset button is part of the cord. The cord has built in arc detection. This is a complex circuit that monitors the unit and senses potentially dangerous sparks or arcing inside the internal components of the A/C (motors, switches, etc.) It sounds like the problem is getting worse - as they usually do. Sparking and arcing happen when dirt, corrosion, etc. accumulates and can result in pitted contacts. All of these conditions only make the sparks and arcs worse. Page 1 of the manual (left column) says this:

If the Arc Detection Device has tripped, the
reset button will pop up.

Follow these steps to reset the Arc Detection
Device:

1. Unplug unit from electrical outlet
2. Press the reset button
3. Plug the unit back into electrical outlet
4. Check to see if power has returned to the unit

Testing

You should test the Arc Detection Device
equipped power cord monthly, after every major
electrical storm, or if power to your Room Air
Conditioner has been interrupted.

Follow these steps to test the Arc Detection
Device:

1. Unplug unit from electrical outlet
2. Press the reset button
3. Plug the unit back into electrical outlet
4. Press test button. Unit should trip and reset
button will pop up.
5. Press reset button again for use
If above test fails, stop using the air
conditioner and contact customer service by
calling the following toll-free number:
1-800-332-6658 or email:
customerservice@fedders.com

I hope this helps & good luck!

The Reset button on cord keeps tripping, when turned on it works for a minute then trips again

There's obviously there is a short or electrical overheating problems omewhere in the appliance that's causing the circuit breaker (Reset Button) to trip. Stop using the AC unit and have it checked by a professional.

My r7184P, I have to keep pressing the reset button for it to work. Changed filter, and cleaned fuel line.

The reset button may be tripping because of air flow restriction.. The filter may be dirty or the evaporator coil may be clogged if this is the case you need to clean the coil with a coil cleaner available at home improvement stores. It also could be the bi-metal in the swith itself has gone bad in that case the cord needs to be replaced. The cord problem happens when there has been an electrical storm or a heavy power surge. Its not often but it does occur.

Good Luck on your repairs

I have a frigidaire window air conditioner FAA067P7A6 the reset button keeps tripping

I assume that you are speaking of the high pressure cut-out switch, (usually has a red button) if that is the switch then you need to remove the unit from the window, take it to the car wash and clean the condenser coil. If you are speaking about the GFCI located in the cord, it could be the cord itself or you have a componenet shorted to ground tha needs repair

A/c was wrk.now it keeps tripping cord breaker .control panel not lighting up.when press reset can hear click in control panel but still trip cord breaker.jumped comp. tries to kick on but trips cord...

is it 220 if so check if you 120 on each pole and should be on a dedicated breaker at least 30 amps. make sure you have a good ground.even on 120 you must have a good ground. or the cord breaker is bad. but check all the above. make sure there no lose wires no arcing.

Power cord

The unit may be drawing more current than the outlet can withstand. Also check to see if the chord is secured and properly installed. The outlet itself may have a loose wire so check to make sure it's good. Otherwise it could simply be the reset switch is burnt out and will keep tripping no matter what. Replace if neccessary. Hope this helped.
