I just installed Asus hd 6450 silent video card. How do I restore Windows Aero? I've read to get a WDDM-Compatable driver. What do you say? Thanks!

Right click on your task bar and go to properties and check Aeropeek view
Right click on my computer and go to properties and visual performance settings then check enable aero peek view.
if it is shows checked just uncheck and recheck and apply.

Wddm driver window

pretty sure you ment "aero" but that's fine. your on the right track to verify it go into the device manager and find out what display adapter is loaded, im not familiar with which video chipset that particular model uses but reguardless of this fact something other than standard vga driver had better be driving your video or windows aero which uses directx and openGL will require your video chipsets higher functions to be enabled.
you probably know this already, so what im saying is the driver will not load because you have a bad driver, or something is conflicting with the driver perhaps some aftermarket add-on that you are plugging in? uninstall any extra drivers you may have installed go to the fujitsu web site and make sure you have download the correct driver for your model laptop and your version of windows careful about choosing x64 or 32bit make sure your OS supports the driver you are trying to install

HOW TO DELETE AERO FROM MY WIN 7 HOME

Windows Aero Glass is Microsoft's 3-D high-end interface for Windows 7. In order to get this interface, you must be running a video card that supports running Aero Glass. Some video cards barely support running Aero Glass and performance suffers and the computer will lag. By simply disabling Aero Glass, you can take a crawling computer and bring new life into it. In any situation, if you want to increase performance, disable Aero Glass.

Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize. Select Windows 7 Basic theme and a "Please Wait" icon appears and changes your theme. Select Windows Classic theme if you are used to a Windows XP look and feel. A "Please Wait" icon appears and changes your theme. http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itproui/thread/ce96731f-8f7a-4d13-ba9b-7826cb595e3d

How can i change my desktop background? Im using Window Starter works with Window Vista

Hi, unfortunately windows 7 starter is a version with lowered capabilities as to be lighter on weaker computers. So, they Windows removed some functions from this version.
Windows 7 Starter does not include:
  • Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the "Windows Basic" or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
  • Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
  • The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
  • Multi-monitor support.
  • DVD playback.
  • Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
  • Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
  • Domain support for business customers.
  • XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.
In order to try and change the background there have been some workarounds, but i do not recommend any of them for they are faulty...

Hi fforinas,
Welcome to FixYa! How are you doing?
Are you using Windows 7 Starter Edition? If yes, then you cannot change the wallpaper.
Windows 7 Starter has limitations:

Windows 7 Starter does not include:

* Aero Glass, meaning you can only use the Windows Basic or other opaque themes. It also means you do not get Taskbar Previews or Aero Peek.
* Personalization features for changing desktop backgrounds, window colors, or sound schemes.
* The ability to switch between users without having to log off.
* 64 bit version
* Multi-monitor support.
* DVD playback.
* Windows Media Center for watching recorded TV or other media.
* Remote Media Streaming for streaming your music, videos, and recorded TV from your home computer.
* Domain support for business customers.
* XP Mode for those that want the ability to run older Windows XP programs on Windows 7.

I suggest that you upgrade your Windows 7 Starter to Windows 7 Home Premium.

Toshiba dvd player dosent work of my toshiba laptop says aero theme windows 7 standurd

I believe that's a requirement for that particular DVD software. There are 2 options that I know of.

a). Try a different DVD player package

b). Enable Windows Aero theme. You will need to make sure the "Theme Service" is running under services (You can access this by right clicking My Computer (or Computer) and going to "Manage". Then "Services and Applications" in the left pane... then Services. Make sure the "Themes" services is started, and is set to Automatic.)

Then ...right click on your desktop and go to "Personalize". Make sure you have one of the "Aero Themes" selected and save your settings...

Then after you confirm this... Right click Computer / My Computer again and choose Properties. Go to the Advanced Tab... click the "Settings" button under performance. Under the Visual Effects tab, make sure "Enable Aero Peek" is selected...as well as "Enable desktop composition" and
"Use visual styles on windows and buttons". Nothing else is really required...

That should meet the Aero Requirements.
