Format it. Press and hold the trashcan and exposure metering buttons (both marked with a red "FORMAT") simultaneously until "For" blinks on the control panel on the top of the camera. Release both buttons, then press them both again.

I have a problem to erase memory card in my phone, how do I fix the problem and erase the card, please?

Is it an android with a removable memory chip? In which case take it out and reformat it. You will need a card reader with a USB hook up for your computer. Or if it is an iphone go to the app store and find a file to download that is much larger than the memory capacity of the phone. The phone will erase everything non vital trying to down load the file. This is what the apple store does to wipe all the search history files off the phones.

Can I take the memory card our or erase the memory on the card. I would like to donate this and I want it clean.

Memory Card are also type of hardware like hard Disk and are required to be protected from any unauthorized access. Deleting of Data from these cards is not enough as the data can be recovered from these data storage sights. so be careful while handing over your Memory Cards as the receiver can recover any type of data even from your broken hard disks and same goes to the other memory storage devices as the deleting or erasing does not do a needful

After locking memory card, do I then unlock it to take pictures and will that then erase the memory card or can you tell me how to so

Locking the memory card prevents you from taking and adding photos to the memory card. It also prevents you from deleting photos from the memory card.
If you want to erase all the photos off the memory card. unlock the memory card, go to the camera's Menu and scroll through the settings ti Format the memory card, then format the memory card.

How to erase memory card

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
The quickest way to erase the memory card. Go to the camera's Menu and scroll through the settings to Format memory card then format the memory card.

Erasing the memory card;

All pictures in the internal memory and/or on the memory card can be erased at once. This is accomplished through either formatting or the "all-frame erase" function. I copied the following instructions from the advanced manual, which can be downloaded here: http://www.olympusamerica.com/files/d545zadvman.pdf. Adobe reader should open that file with no problem. If it doesn't, that's another issue altogether.

1. Enter playback mode by pressing the play button.
2. Press the OK MENU button.
3. Press the right arrow button (next to the lightning bolt) to access [MODE MENU]
4. Then, press the down arrow to access the [MEMORY(CARD)] tab.
5. Select the [ALL ERASE] function.
6. Select Yes and press OK MENU.

(You'll need to use the arrow buttons to navigate the menus. Please see pg 16 of the manual for instructions on how to do so.)

Note: when the memory card is in the camera, it will erase the pictures off the card. When the card is removed, the function above will erase the internal memory.

2. Format memory card

(WARNING: After running this low level format tool,
the whole USB flash disk surface will be fully erased.
Therefore, data restoration will be impossible after using this utility!)

Erased images

I had success with this
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery software (simply because i was using it and it worked)
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

Problem with "remove memory card"

Your memory card is like having a contact issue.

Remove your memory card, grab an eraser(the end of the pencil will do best), erase or scrube the gold contact point of the memory card and test it.

It should work fine now.

Hope this helps...
