Unplug the speaker one at a time and see if the warning goes away. This protect warning you see usually indicates a shorted voice coil or speaker wiring.

How can I get it out of protect mode?

Protect mode indicates a short in the speaker wiring or a faulty speaker. Just disconnect speakers one at a time to determine which is the issue, then swap that speaker with a known good speaker from a different location (other side of car). If the headunit goes back in to protect mode when a known good speaker is connected, you know that the short is in the speaker wiring between the speaker and the deck. If the warning does not come back you know that the speaker is at fault, replace it. In most cases it is the speaker rather than the wiring. Good luck, should be an easy fix if you're familiar with car audio installation, if not, find a friend who will help you, it's not worth paying an audio shop $40 just to unplug your speaker.

Amp hook up

If you are referring to a warning light on a car, unless you knicked a wire that caused a warning light to come on. It shouldn't matter if you have an aftermarket amp. If you are referring to a warning light on the amp. Make sure that you are not under driving the impedence and not shorting any wires. If you dont have any shorts, then your amplifier is probably done for. Because you might have a short internally. Unless it is just in protect mode. I had a memphis amp that went into protect mode, I set it off to the side for a for a week or so and was bored so i hooked it back up and it worked. It still works and that was about 2 years ago. Good luck.

"Overheating warning"

This model is equipped with a self-diagnosis feature to help with diagnosis of shutdown problems. To activate this turn the unit on let it shutdown then press the device and menu buttons on the front panel simultaneously and hold them in for 5 seconds after 5 seconds the power LED on the front panel will blink a two digit sequence. This will be one set of blinks a short pause then another set of blinks, this will repeat 5 times. 1 - 2 = no error detected 2 - 1 = X-ray protect (high voltage or beam current) 2 - 2 = Short protect (short protect monitors low voltage supplies) 2 - 3 = Deflection protect (this could be loss of vertical or horizontal deflection) 2 - 4 = Vertical protect (usually loss of vertical from the source)
