Question about Televison & Video

I just purchased a great condition Philips-Magnavox 7P6033 rear projection TV. Where can I find an owner's manual for this TV? Also, is there a code to set the convergence?

I tried the magnavox website:
there was no manual for that model. You might try contacting support and asking.
Or you could go here, $17 for a manual apparently
(by download; paper is $25)

Yes you will need to discharge any electrical equipment before working. One way of doing this is keep equ. unplugged for sometime or after unplug short hot to ground which will most times cause a spark. You can go to or or any online parts store and get the part number off old IC, yes these are on the convergence module. They are big STK's, also there are resistors that will need to be changed and maybe pico fuses.

*Note: This procedure is required for all of the following geometry and
convergence adjustments.*

*Using the remote transmitter, enter the following seven-button sequence to
activate the convergence mode.*

* 06 - 25 - 97 - Menu (M)*

*The "Opening Menu" will appear offering choices:*

convergence. A signal source is required to lock the vertical and
horizontal sync. After entering the "convergence service mode" verify the
presence of a video source by confirming the presence of active audio (use
the volume up function on the remote). Use the channel up and down function
on the remote to select the desired tuning source.*

Transmitter. This forces the corrections to be written to the EEPROM on the
Convergence Module.*

convergence menu by selecting Exit/Save Data (1)*

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.
