Why does my car shudder when doing approx 40klms an hr? Its a automatic car.

Check the tires to see if the rims/lugnuts are loose, then inspect the tire tread for 'wavey' spots in the tread and/or sidewalls. (Indicates broken belts inside the tire)...If the vibration smoothes-out after 5-55 MPH, it would be tires out of balance...if it gets worse, and is a frontwheel-drive, likely a constant-velocity-joint going bad in one of the front axles. Generally the one one the passenger-side fails first.

No reverse

Look at the shift linkages. If they are loose and out of alignment it will sometimes cause that condition. The linkages where the go into the transmission is a common spot where the splines will get slop in them.

Hi Craig, sorry to hear your having problems. the first thing to try is running the machine with the fuel cap loose. The cap has a vent that allows air into the tank as the fuel is consumed.

Ensure that the cooling shrouds are clear of and grass / debri buildup causing it to over heat.

If those fail, it is likely that you will need a new ignition module. As the module heats up it expands. if there are any weak spots it will cause a broken internal connection when expanded. When it cools off, it contracts and the weak connection is restored.
