Your user name is whatever name you used the very first time you logged in. If you forgot they have a box you can check, then they will ask you the sec. Question you answered the first time you wanted to register or log in.

I forgot my password how do i log on

Hi,

This is only possible is you are using Windows XP. If your operating system is windows Xp, follow the steps below:

  1. Turn on your computer and allow it get to the stage where is will ask for user/log pasword
  2. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del your keyboard.
  3. A user name and password prompt will pop up.
  4. On the user name type in "administrator
  5. On the password, type in "administrator"
  6. and you windows will open, go to control panel from there to change the password.
That's all. In other words, the user name and password is administrator.

But in the case of windows Vista, you will have to re-run windows operating system, because vista security is very tight and its difficult to break into its password.

Take care.

About a year ago a friend set up our wireless router the problem is they didnt know they were doing it and now we dont know the Password to log in on other wireless machines laptops etc i simply need to...

Log in to your router's configuration page using your internet browser by typing "http://192.168.1.1" in the address bar.
Type in “admin” for both username and password which is the default user name and password.
Click on “Setup” at the top
Scroll down to “Network Setup”

If you have forgotten the router's user name and password, and the default user name and password aren't working, try resetting the router back to factory defaults:

With the router powered on, hold the reset button (located on the back of the router) for 25 seconds. Then disconnect the power from the router and wait 10 seconds before plugging it back in.

After the reset, you should be able to login to the router with the default user name and password.

Is there any way to change the administrator password?

Are you logged into windows or just the bios settings?
Are you running XP or Vista?
If you are in XP and you logged in by another user name and don't have and files under the Admin account I wouldn't worry about it as long as you have Admin priv on the user name you are logged in under.

Xp logs on then logs off immediately on acer 5100

I'd suggest booting into Safe Mode (press F8 after the POST information is finished on bootup) and then you should see an option for Administrator. If you can sign in successfully there, go to Control Panel and create a new account under User Accounts. Boot normally after that and see if you can sign in the new account.

Two questions: 1) is this XP or Vista? and 2) did you recently make any significant changes to the software (namely try to change the Certificate of Authenticity)? If what I suggested works, I'd say boot into Safe Mode again and then run System Restore for Windows. Set the system back to about a week ago and try logging in normally.
