Acer L100 Overheats - Acer Aspire L100 PC Desktop

The Acer Aspire L100 is a desktop computer powered by a special DC adapter and power cable. The computer's motherboard incorporates a fuse designed to prevent any power surges from damaging the computer. If the fuse burns out due to a power surge or for any other reason, the computer will no longer function. You can check the motherboard fuse for damage yourself, then take it to a trained technician for replacement if needed

Shut down the Acer Aspire L100 and turn the tower around.

Press the "On/Off" button on the front of the tower. If the computer will not boot and the fan does not turn on, the fuse may be burned out.

Unplug the power cord from the rear of the tower

Turn the tower on its side and remove the Phillips-head screws connecting the back panel to the Aspire L100's cabinet.

Pull out the motherboard assembly gently from the back of the cabinet. The internal fuse is located on the motherboard behind the DC power jack, which is to the right of the monitor jack

Please can you try the following

1) go to www.devicedoctor.com
2) Download and install the device doctor software
3) Once installed open it up and click scan, it will then scan your PC for the best driver
4) Download the driver (entitled VGA driver) and install
5) Restart and see if this cured the issue

first things first pls check if the cpu fan is seated properly.
if not pls try to reseat the cpu fan, but before doing it put thermal paste on top of the cpu to haver a better contact on the cpu

if the fan is seated properly check the rpm of the fan on bios mode see if the rpm of the fan is fast enough.. if not then there's the problem.


this things only happens if the cooling system of your processor is malfunctioning. Your built in hardware monitor tends to turn of the computer to prevent further damage,,

Try adjusting the screen resolution by right clicking on an open spot, going to properties and clicking on settings. Change the screen resolution to 1024x768 or better.

Go back to Acer.com. The driver you want is the one that say's (Power 1000 chipset driver) that is if it's an integrated Network card. If it's not integrated then I would need the name on the card. Hope this helps.

There are two solutions to this problem. First set the fan in the PC Bios to rub at full speed all the time. This was too noisy for me.

Second, If you are running Windows Vista, you can adjust the Maximum Porcessor Utilization. From the Windows Control Panel select the Power Options icon. Then select "Change plan settings" for which ever power plan the PC is set to use. Then select "Change advanced power settings". Expand the "Processor power managment" by clicking on the "+" symbol. Finally click on the "+" for "Maximum processor state". I would try changing this setting to "90 %". This worked fine on my ACER L100 and it no longer overheats.

The L100 has an onboard graphics card and is not upgradable.
