SOURCE: replacing dryer motor model ler8648lw0 whirlpool

The easist way is to take the covers off because it is difficult to get to. Once you take the front cover off you can lift out the drum and be able to get to the motor easily.
Good luck

Whirlpool model LER8648LW0 - the dryer will not stop when door is opened and the interior light does not light. I have changed the bulb on the light but it still does not work. I suspect the problems are...

Hello,

I suspect the problem with your dryer is the door switch as opposed to the timer...its the responsibility of the door switch to stop the dryer when the door is opened as well as turning on the light too when the door is opened.

The part number for the door switch is 3406107 it could be purchased at your local appliance parts store or online at;
apdepot.com
repairclinic.com
searspartsdirect.com
apwagner.com
partselect.com

This youtube video will show ya how to replace the door switch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWQhuQXa6d0

I have a Whirlpool LER8648LW0 and it will not heat up. I had to change the breakers and once I did that no more heat. Everything else works fine. The only difference in the breakers is the old ones were...

if you had heat in the dryer before you changed anything in the electrical box then i doubt very much it has anything to do with the dryer.if you have a meter you can check at the block where the cord connects to the dryer and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer before you start messing with the dryer

Why my dyer willl not get hot

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

check out this electric no heat tip...

Dryer not heating

if takes a long time then u have a venting issue.

if no heat first check your breaker a dryer willl run on 120volts but 240 is needed for heating..

if electric check ur heating element, thermostats, thermal fuse for continuity with a meter

if gas check the ignitor, thermal fuse, or gas secondary coils..

LER8648LW0 Dryer. Not heating, runs continuously (stops w/ door opened). Timer not advancing. Checked fuse(0 ohms), thermostats (0 ohms) and coil (10 ohms). Timer was at 10-11 K ohms,(high end). So...

One side of the element powers from the timer and the other side from the motor . Remove one wire from the element , and check which wire is not getting 120 V . Trace the wire NOT getting 120V and it will lead either to the timer or the motor , providing that the small t-stat looking piece (thermal cut-off) located close to the top of the heater box , shows continuity . If it does not , then pt # 3392519 is for it and the hi-limit t-stat . If you replace it , then replace both that come in the kit .

Whirlpool electric dryer not drying

If the drier drum is still turning I would suspect a separate fuse is open for the heating element. Checking this may require openning the back cover. It may also be a defective or open heating element.
