Hi, I have a problem. I wanted to filter the

The address you wrote is not a MAC address, it's an IP address. The MAC address is the physical network card address.
A MAC address has a form xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx, or as Microsoft likes it, xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, where xx is a pair of hexadecimal digits (from 0 to F).
You can find out your cards' MAC addresses either by inspecting the card hardware, where often it's written on a label, or using "ipconfig /all" command (from the command prompt) - it will show you the physical addresses of all the installed network adapters.
If you have locked yourself out completely from your router and cannot access it's configuration page, you will have to reset it to factory default settings (see manual on how to do that) and re-configure it from scratch.

I am trying to secure my router with password but

would you mind providing make and model of router? You can connect to the router with ethernet cable and look at your Gateway IP address. Take that ip address and type into your browser as http://XX.XX.XX.XX Where the XX's are your gateway ip address. this will get you to your routers config page. From there you can try the default password for the router then go on the actually configuration. But its hard to direct further without know specific make and model.

I have a belkin router asdl wireless how to secure the connection

Hello,

The easiest way is to turn on the mac restriction feature and only allow the macs from the machines that you want to have access.

Since I didn't see the model of router listed, you will need to refer to the manual for exact instructions on enabling that feature.

You can get the mac addresses from the machines that you want to have access to the router in xp by click Start > Run > type cmd.exe and press enter. Then type ipconfig /all and look for the physical address of your adapter. It should be in the format of XX-XX-XX-XX-XX-XX. Once you get that information you can allow it in your router.

This will give you basic security on your router.

Thanks

Trying to remove a ip route on the 5871.

normally on router commands, in order to delete something you do not write del, but instead write out the command you would type to add the route with the word no in front of the line.

so if the command to add was eth ip addroute xx.xx.xx.xx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xx.xx.xx 1

the command to take it off would be, no eth ip delroute xx.xx.xx.xx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xx.xx.xx 1
