SOURCE: I forgot the Samsung Impression

If you are talking about the security lock code to enter into the phone then once it is lost nothing can be done except flashing the mobile . Because if anybody can give the security code created then who ever who steals your phone can get into it and get your valuable information.

So as safety precaution to avoid that they have designed it such that if you forget the security lock you have to reset the mobile memory by flashing the mobile at an authorized service center. So while flashing the mobile all the data in the mobile memory will be lost and you can again start using the mobile.

How do i reset my samsung model sch-s738c if i don't have my pattern password?

Because there is a pattern pw set up on the phone you will have to do a hard reset. Unfortunately a hard reset will erase all downloads, uploaded programs or any cool stuff that was added to the phone; so in essence you will be wiping it a brand new phone.
If you're still with me, please follow these steps:
    1. Turn off the device
    2. Remove the battery for about 10 seconds, remove sim card and sd card then reinsert all the battery being last.
    3. Press and hold Volume Up button and Power Button simultaneously till the screen turns up and Samsung logo blinks for two times.
    4. Then release the power key but keep the Volume Up key pressed till you see Android system recovery screen.
    5. select wipe data / factory reset using Volume Down key to highlight.
    6. Press home key.
    7. select reboot system now
    8. Press home key.

Frozen on starting

you need to hard reset your phone, you will loose everything on it but this will work. you need to hold power volume up and home button together at the same time until the phone goes black then shows the samsung logo. let go of all the buttons scroll down to wipe cache partition and click on it. then goto wipe data/factory reset. once you have done that click reboot system now.

restart phone and all should be good

OK, I found this instructions on how to factory reset, I don't think you need to connect it top the computer, just scroll down to wipe data and choose yes. I think that pressing the power button will select the highlighted section.

How to Recovery Mode for Google Nexus 10:
The first, must turn off in your Google Nexus Tablet.
Then press and hold Volume UP+DOWN+POWER buttons.
Next step, plug in to your computer the tablet to get into the recovery mode.
Further, select Wipe data Factory reset.
The last, choose YES to confirm
Warning: All data will be lost!

Very good, thanks for expanding and clarifying what the problem is. Most probably when you updated to a new firmware somehow the firmware could've got corrupted. I have no idea if you try to hard reset. Let's try resetting your phone to factory, as if it were brand new, you will loose all data in the phone.
Turn off the phone, with the phone in off, press and hold at the same time, the volume up, home key and power key until it display the recovery. Some models does this after showing the Samsung logo, some just goes straight to the recovery.
Once in the recovery, take a moment to look at the scroll that is showing and read it. The first one is Reboot, the second must be Install From Zip, etc... Ok, what you want to do is scroll down to Wipe/factory data, once highlighted, press the power key in order to respond to the command of wiping your user data. When done, scroll one more line down to Wipe Cache, highlighted and press power. When done, go back to Reboot and press power key. The phone should reboot now. You need to log in again and input all your google account information. If this doesn't work and the phone keep freezing and lag, then it needs to be flash a new firmware with Odin. Let me know if it helps, good luck.
