No don't do that. Power is right behind old radio. Orange and Yellow in Factory plug.

I cut my stock stereo harness and want to hook up a aftermarket CD player but I can't get any power

Power comes from 2 spots. Usually the orange wire(B+) goes to memory. You have to splice into an ignition on wire to power the radio. I splice from the A/C controller.

I need a 12 volt switched power supply for my sirius radio, where cani find a wire i can hook into?

Check the large wires coming down the steering column from the ignition switch. Use a test light and find one that illuminates the test light with the key in the on position.

2001 grand am se1 factory radio wiring

The person asking this question has a PONTIAC GRAND AM SE, NOT a Grand Prix. (Not the same car).If you will go to any local auto parts store they will carry the repair manual for your car. The repair manual has the wiring diagram for all the wiring in your car in the back part of the manual. It will be called the HAYNES Auto Repair Manual for the year of your Pontiac Grand Am SE. I just dont understand how some people can be so ignorant as to excessively cut wiring out of a car when they dont even know what they are doing. Go figure. lol. If there is a college or a trade school in your area that has courses for auto mechanics , most of them repair cars also. They usually do not charge a labor charge, they only charge for the parts needed to repair a car and also a small shop fee. If this is the case in your area give them a call asap. They can help you. I used to have a 2002 Pontiac grand Am SE 1. I now have a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am SE 1 and I am going to sell it. If you need any more help just respond back. Hope this helps.

2000 alero does not start after sitting in cool temps overnight but works fine when it warms up?

the issue you are having has to do with the ignition switch harness, it is inferior in this vehicle, the best way to I have found to repair these electrical and fuel pump issues , is splice in a ignition switch wiring harness from a 98 - 03 grand am ignition switch harness, I have used Malibu parts also but they seem to be only slightly better than alero, I have done several of these aleros without come backs so there ya go ,

2001 grand prix se turn on fan and loose head lights

This is your ignition wireing harness/switch. I have a 1999 grand prix GT that did the same thing. After a lot of reserch I found that this is the problem. Its not that hard to replace, and I was able to get it at a local auto parts store. I think if i remember correctly it was between $100 and $150.

Yes, you can replace the socket. Pick up the socket a t your local auto parts store and splice into the wires, or go to your local recycle yard and purchase a tail lamp wire harness and just plug it in.
