My 1995 GMC YUKON 5.7L 350 engine will not crank/turn over..Battery, starter, fuel pump and alternator are all brand new because of this issue but the problem still persist. I'm lost on what other malfunctions can cause my truck not to crank. When I turn key to start, it makes a *click* sound only once. Any advice?

Try and turn engine by hand to make it is not seized .if ok it may have a bad electoral connection either from battery to starter or from battery to engine earth, voltage drop can be checked with a volt meter.

SOURCE: 95 F150 wont crank

the starter should be replaced. The solenoid is kikcing the pinion out but there is no contact being made to turn the starter motor. I have the exact same truck and before i changed the starter used the old starter tap trick. Tap the starter casing with a hammer and it should start turning again. hope this was helpful for you. Good luck.

SOURCE: Fuel pump issue, 2004 chevy avalanche

1s the fuel pump should not be that noisy, and the problem u are describing is a defective/worn out fuel pump, it is taking time to built pressure, replace the fuel pump and don't forget to replace the in line fuel filter as well.

SOURCE: car turns over, but won't start

Too many choice.
3 main areas are fuel, spark, air.
Try a shot of ether, if it fires at all, it is a fuel problem.
Then we can get into more detail.

It wont turn over we have checked the ignition changed all teh relays. it will start on occasion but after once it wont so anything but click once. not the starter or the ignition and the battery is brand...

If the engine doesn't turn over it is not a fuel issues as fuel will keep it from starting. However the engine will still turn over what is more likely is a starting system concern since it just clicks it is probably the starter or starter circuit. again the fuel pump cut off only turns off power to pump which will cut fuel.. engine will still crank.

My 1995 jeep grand cherokee Laredo won't start, or

You might not believe this, but check your battery. Some of these vehicles have cut-outs when the battery level goes below a preset amount.
I work on Ford brands and on them, a low battery level will even disconnect the Alternator circuit and mess with the starter. Some even act up when the battery slightly dips below 12 volts.

Your antitheft can make your starter cut out. And If you think about it, all of the measurements to make the engine run are based on feedback of voltage and amperage. This is how the engine management system adjusts. If your prime source of power is low, then all of the following electrical readings will be low. Some may be too low to work.

Your fuelpump will hold pressure in a closed system for hours. The fuel pressure regulator will command the fuelpump to stop working if the fuel pressure is at maximum. Without responses from the other components and after satisfactory pressure, the fuelpump will turn off.

I have a 2001 Yukon Denali that won't start. It

You need to make sure that the engine has what an engine needs to run. The obvious ones are fuel and spark. Make sure there is at least 40LBS of fuel pressure at the injector rail when cranking. If so, you will need to make sure the injectors are opening. If you verify that the engine is getting fuel you need to make sure there is fire to the plugs when cranking. If it is getting fuel and spark, you need to make sure there is enough compression for the engine to run. And lastly, if it has everything else it needs to happen at the correct time.

Gmc yukon will not start. tested alternator, battery and starter.

I take your question as the engine cranks, but does not fire up, 1st listen at the gas tank with gas cap off, is the fuel pump running for 3 seconds then stops when the key is turned on (not to start)?? If it is, check the fuel pressure at the motor to see if it's 52 lbs. If this is OK, then it's probably the crankshaft sensor behind the starter. When this sensor fails it will shut off the fuel pump. Also see if you have a Check Engine light, with a scan code reader, because without the engine running the Service Engine light will not work correctly. It should have a code to say what the error is, good luck. Do not disconnect the battery, it will reset the error code. I had that same problem and it was the crankshaft sensor, and it's not easy to change (starter has to come out as the oil dip stick). About $ 50.00 if you do it.

Just replaced the battery on 1995 honda prelude. Alternator checked out fine. 2 weeks later came out of work and the car would not start. Battery would not turn over. Could this be fuel pump relay? ...

The fuel pump relay has nothing to do with your engine cranking/turning over. If your battery is dead, you may have gotten a bad battery, it happens. It also depends on what type of battery you got. Walmart, Deka, and advance auto batteries have some problems. IF your battery checks good, it is most likely your starter, or wiring to starter. If your battery is dead, but recharges good, you have a drain issue, you left something on, or the alternator is not putting out enough amps. You may be getting proper voltage, but no amps.

My GMC yukon XL 2001 engine runs after 4 times of cranking.

Try turning key to on only, not start, 2 or 3 times first then try to start. If it starts good first try, then I'd change my fuel filter & then have fuel pressure tested if fuel filter didn't help. You may be looking at a new pump, but lets do filter & test fuel pressure first.

1993 suburban won't crank when hot

There are quite a few things to check, start with checking fuel and spark. One or the other isn't working at the time of NO START. Things to check: ECT sensor(engine coolant temp.), TP sensor(throttle positioning), fuel pump and relay (), spark-plugs, wires, cap&rotor, air&fuel filter, PCV, ignition control module (can be tested for free at AUTO-ZONE or most other part stores), IAC (idle control valve), no crank signal (defective ignition switch), or PROM. I think that with all the extra cranking something else is bad now. Check the battery, should have 12.5 volts (cold), the fuse, connections, and bench test the new starter, it might be defective. Hope this helps you, if you have any other questions, please ask away.
