Elna Pro 4De serger thread breaking

Be sure to thread each in the ORDER specified--for most machines (but yours may differ) upper looper, lower looper, then needles. Follow (closely) the threading diagram on the machine. Missing one guide or hitting the guides out of order will throw you machine into a tizzy! On my serger, the lower looper has to lay over the top of the upper looper/thread before it all gets pulled under the presser foot toward the back of the machine.

It also may help to RAISE the presser foot when threading the machine.

Need threading instructions for Elna SPECIAL not Super circa 1969-71

Sewing machines basically thread in the same manner--from the spool through a thread guide or two, then through the tension disk, up and over the take-up lever, then down through guides to the needle.. Just be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread so the thread will seat fully in the tension disk.

How do I sell problems

tension on an Elna L4 overlocker (or serger in USA) is controlled with the four dials on the front of the machine, an overlocker has a tension dial for each thread (usually 3, 4 or 5) and the mid range setting will be 5 on each dial. It is critical to lift the thread pole to its maximum height and follow the threading diagram correctly taking the thread from the cone, through the thread eyelets on the pole, then usually a thread carrier on top of the machine, down and around the tension dial, then usually through another couple of thread carriers until reaching the needle or loopers. Many overlockers will have a threading diagram inside the front looper cover and will use colour coding on the components so you can see where each thread goes.

Why do stretch stich on elna overlocker become to tight for single knits and seams snap

Sounds like a threading problem rather than the stitch, have you raised the thread aerial pole to full height first up, its something that can be overlooked. The threads come off the cones very quickly so its critical that the pole is elevated and the threads are flowing smoothly. Look at the cones and check that a thread isn't getting caught under the thread stand too or wrapped somewhere like the flywheel; anytime a thread is snapping, always take a good look at your thread paths and check for obstructions, check tension numbers are right and work through the threading path.

Where are the oiling points on my elna three thread over locker ?

look for red dots marked on the machine, or inside the front cover over the lower loopers there may be a threading up diagram which also has red marks where oil should be applied. Usually it will be to the spindles where the two loopers move/slide.

I have trouble with my 6002 serger coming unthreaded, especially the left needle.

check that the aerial (pole) is up all the way, also tension setting on the thread. I would expect the needle tension to be 5. now review yr threading , check this thread from cone to needle and see if the thread is wrapped twice around a loop or catching on another guide or just missing a guide. sometimes if you put pole down to cover machine at night, then come back and pull up the pole for next use, the thread may catch on back thread support, around the cone or foam under cones. its usually something simple. also chech the take up lever, is the thread passing under this?? if not that would cause breakage just as it does with regular sewing machine. the take up lever draws thread down when needles raise to keep thread feeding to needles - maybe this isnt happening? if its definitely threaded correctly try stitching very slowly and see if take up is moving??? lastly is the thread old brittle and dry?? although most locker cones are poly thread they can get brittle if very old. good idea to store the spares in a drawer long term out if daylight if you can. and cover machine up when not in use, plastic panels are adverse to sunlight and ditto for the thread. hope some of the above solves yr problem. but if you cant resolve it then take for a service, should have one every two years to clean lube and reset looper timings to get best from the machine.

I have a contessa,MO.104 overlocker,i really need a manual can any one help me please, thanks,JUDY

Hi My name is Karyn my email
I can help you thread the Elna over locker. Write to me at my email. Once threaded with 4 dirfferent colours find a scrap of medium weight fabric and sew few inches/ 10 cm or so, it is then easy to see which threads appear loose and which appear tight. For the actual overlocked edge the two threads ought to weave together and meet eachother on the cut edge of the fabric.tighten on colour and loosed the other until they meet on the edge. with the outside needle and the (under) 'arm' below which make the 'chain' seem you will also see using diffrerent coloured threads, if the chain is loose tighten the tension for that thread - usually the 'arm' tension. For any further help email me as I may not find my way back to this site.
If you can help me I'm currently looking for a Blade for an Elna MO 104 over locker.
